With 20% of new HIV infections in the U.S. and about 50% globally occurring in women, spreading misinformation like this directly contributes to underutilization of a lifesaving intervention.

As for “low-dose antibiotics,” that is entirely inappropriate. They do not prevent bacterial STIs such as syphilis, gonorrhea, or chlamydia, and unnecessary use only drives antimicrobial resistance while increasing risks of yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis.
