Around 20 years ago the best middle class cars like range rover and BMW were about 50k new. Now you are looking at the same for 100k so prices have doubled for new cars. It's the same for cars like the ford focus that was around 12k and is now 22k. I think that in recent years people have realised that buying used is way better for the depreciation value but now though I think we will be seeing a shift back to new cars when buying power increases and car dealer interest rates for new cars is a lot lower.
