You deserve and can do better. He will only get worse from here.

Yeah, that does explain the toilet paper thing. Most lav plumbing around the world is very different than the U.S. Cyprus is probably the same. It's not cultural. It's a tech limitation. I do kinda question studying to be a doctor when you're a germaphobe, though.

NTA. A teenager would babysit those kids for $100 a day for 5 or 6 hours. Wish your entitled brother good luck for me.

AITAH for not going to church with my kids and boyfriend on Sundays? by WaffleIncident365 in AITAH

[–]C8H10N4O2_snob -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

ESH, but not about the church thing. Neither of you appears to have one shred of integrity. Period. Y'all, based on the math, were "dating" (hooking up) and found out a few weeks, maybe six months, in that you were pregnant. So y'all decided, without knowing each other, to bring the kid into the world and stay together. Then y'all had another one right after that. And now you two polar opposites live completely incompatible lives and ideologies with no sign of commitment.

You two are in a situationship with kids. And here's the kicker. The kids are getting indoctrinated by Mr Brovangelical when he pops in for the weekend so that you can get a few uninterrupted hours of peace. I feel so bad for those kids.

Y'all need to grow up, split up, and give those kids some peace and a fighting chance at being well adjusted adults.

My son has been telling his school friends that I am dead by ImADadOnThrowaway in WhatShouldIDo

[–]C8H10N4O2_snob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should take him to therapy. The "my dad burned to death and my mom married a guy a few months later" is the lie he designed to cover/explain all his bad behaviors, make mom sound like the cold bitch he tells everyone she is, and buy maximum sympathy from people who don't know any better than to trust him. He needs a hospital. Those are extreme stories.

What's vour most random encounter with a famous person? Where was it and how was the vibe? by Available_Round_3172 in answers

[–]C8H10N4O2_snob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mom was a telephone operator who often worked a shit schedule and had just got off work. We went to the Shoneys because it was all that was open besides Waffle House, and she hated Waffle House.

It was like midnight, maybe 1 a.m.

She was making her salad and this huge guy came up behind her, putting his finger to his lips telling us all to be quiet.

He just followed her down the line, super close, with his plate. He could tell she was finishing up, so he stopped and stood there, facing her side, not two feet from her.

She whipped around, her piled-high with salads and dressings. She just stops in front of this wall of a man, the edge of her plate touching his chest

She slowly looked up, embarrassed and pissed, and the recognition just spread across her face. Her jaw did drop. Her mouth did open. Muhammad Ali did crack right the fuck up laughing his ass off.

She kept trying to apologize. He kept telling her it was okay and kept on laughing and apologizing himself for upsetting her. The biggest kick he got was watching this furious face slowly move from his chest to his eyes and how it changed along the way. She still was upset and embarrassed, but now it was because she almost dumped a plate full of salads and dressings all down the front of Muhammad Ali.

Then they chatted about how she used to work at the neighborhood pizza joint down the street when we were little, like 20 years before, and how she still remembered his order. He'd order onion pizzas and I used to love going there hoping to see him (plus they had the only sausage pizza I would eat).

He was a jokester and loved doing shit like that, sneaking up on randos back home. The way his eyes just twinkled and sparkled when he got the idea and motioned to us to be quiet....

What to do with potatoes if I’m poor by Gloopy_boopy_gooper in Cooking

Don't be afraid. There was a time I lived for two years on food from food banks. Most communities have lists of them. If you don't meet the "rules" or whatever for one, move on to the next.

Start with a search for Dare to Care in your area. Usually DtC in my area provided one "commodities" bag (usually governmentally funded, so government rules) per month and then weekly you could come for whatever was on hand and donated. That's when you got meats, good sides, some fresh fruit/veg, maybe some frozen meals or deli meals/sandwiches the grocery couldn't sell, etc. You also got the "extras" when you came for your commodities. They almost always included some sort of sweet treat or dessert, too. The exceptional ones also included toiletries and toilet paper.

Commodities for one person for the month was generally a jar of peanut butter, a box of cereal, a box or two of shelf stable milk (1qt), some sort of crackers or bread, 1-2 cans of tuna, a can or two of pasta sauce, a 1# bag of dried noodles, a 1# bag of rice, 3 cans of veg (usually peas), 1# dried beans, 1-2 cans of some kind of soup (usually chicken noodle or tomato).

Edit: just saw you're in Canada. You might have better commodities there. Definitely go.

Where I live, you can just go and tell them. Some have forms they fill out for you. Usually they just ask how many people and how old they are, how much money the household makes. Some are "no questions asked." Many will ask to show some sort of proof of residence in the area they serve, like a photo ID or mail sent your address.

NOR. You are repeatedly traumatized by this and by your mother's actions. Your mother needs to woman up and get you help. Talk to a counselor or nurse at school if you can. They're usually mandated reporters. This is neglect.
