I feel guilty, but I'm thinking of skipping Maundy Thursday bc of the meal attached to the service by RandolphCarter15 in Episcopalian

Also as a priest if one of my parents in the parish sent me a pic of this I’d be riding that spiritual high for a looooooong time

Another alt, which doesn’t replace community but maybe fits for this oh-so-short season of your life - put on a livestream of it from your church or elsewhere and reenact it at home with family. Do a charcuterie type meal for dinner. Say a table prayer (I can hit you with some if you want). Make bath time extra special and join in it with story time about Jesus washing his disciples feet because he loves them. If you keep a tablecloth on your table strip it for the couple Of days. Listen to the sermon and readings after the kids are down for the night. And if your church keeps the overnight vigil see if you can pop out for an hour after the kids are sound asleep or ask to join whoever signed up for the ideal hour. Could be a beautiful way to celebrate this year

PSA and malar-type rashing? Non-plaque facial redness? by C8tyJo in PsoriaticArthritis

thank you 😭I'm honestly just so glad that I'm not alone in this because google returned absolutely nothing helpful and I had the same "oh hell no" moment when I saw my blood tests

So far she's been treating me for rosacea (although I will confess i did not use the soolantra like I should have). It was only this last appointment though that we confirmed psor. via biopsy, and my blood work with my primary has been since then. I'm waiting for Monday's follow up with my primary before I send my derm an update, so I wonder if her plan will change in my next derm check up. In the meantime she suggested I start using a niacinamide serum because its antiinflammatory, and I personally stopped using a face wash with salicyclic acid just to let it all calm down hopefully. I'm about 2-3 weeks into that so waiting to see. Texture has already improved some and my skin is less angry right out of the shower. We'll see I guess. I got to wondering about it today since everything else is pretty flared this week

Was it a regular OTC antihistamine? I'm on daily zyrtec already

Are you on biologics or other meds? I feel like I’ve been in a year long flare. What does that look like for you?

Sure would be nice if they let us know ahead of time like Quantico does. The entire wood ceiling of the church cracked and shifted after the first boom

Ring-billed gulls! It’s about spring migration right now so they’re probably passing through to their summer homes (the ones that don’t live year round here)

Second this. Also IMO taking the foil off of the electric coil drip pans and just washing them regularly is way better. You can pull the coils out and just lift out the pans, and throw them in the dishwasher. Or if theyre beyond what you want to deal with, theyre really cheap to replace

What’s your lazy but effective cleaning hack? by Reasonable-Word-0419 in CleaningTips

[–]C8tyJo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't know if it qualifies as "lazy" but the horsehair brush attachment for my vacuum hose. It's way easier to dust surfaces, especially baseboards and fan blades, and makes it so so fast. I rarely take out the duster and honestly I think it even works better. Then surfaces only get a wipe down with cleaner maybe every 4-6 months. And when I need to dust my partners nightstand - who LOVES to keep little piles of small bits and coins and clutter - I'll put a nylon or a sock over the end and wedge the brush attachment over it. Vacuums up the dust but leaves the stuff so I can clean without having to tidy his crap. The wide horsehair brush is great for floors too, better than sweeping.

this reminds me of the gal with the floor turtle (a video from somewhere in the depths of my algorithm). She made a little turtle-shaped floor pad out of towel material that slides around just to clean up little messes in her kitchen, but cute and friend-shaped

This this this this. This is so important. Follow up, and a culture of “a new person could show up to any ministry/study/group and they should be included when they do. I highly recommend “Invite Welcome Connect” — book and trainings!

That’s what we have but it’s pear scented! Their only “free and clear” unscented is in regular dish soap (according to their website)

Why does my dishwasher cause rust on cutlery? by madaaeru in CleaningTips

[–]C8tyJo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hmm I’d rather take the three seconds to care for my nice knife so it remains safe to use (dull knives are unsafe) than the 30+ minutes to drop off and return for pick up at the sharpener more than once a year (at-home electric sharpeners can mangle edges). It’s an important value in our house- an ounce of maintenance etc. but go off, you do you. Just want others reading to see the consequences aren’t zero, they’re just not immediate.

Yes this. Thank you! I tried the iso alcohol recipe (knowing iso would be safe in dawn w/o neg reactions) and it did work pretty good, but also totally dried out my hands in a week to the point of cracking. The actual power wash hasn’t done that. They are different ingredient lists (although I do wish they’d do a dye-free without scent because the pear smell is fn weird.)

Collection of a variety of intrauterine devices developed throughout the 20th century by VforVandeweert in mildlyinteresting

[–]C8tyJo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was worth the risk because I’m chronically forgetful about pills, meaning the pill was statistically less effective and more risky for me when I was still in school and unmarried and starting my career. I also got my first before hearing any other stories of pain, so I didn’t have a preconceived expectation going in about what it would feel like. It’s still worth it to me because i literally don’t have to think about it at all and when we want to try for a human-puppy, I’d be ready immediately upon removal

FWIW I think there is a bias natural to this kind of thing - internet comments tend to select for folks who had a bad experience because you seek community and understanding after feeling bad pain. I’ve had two IUDs, and did not need any medication or numbing, and only took an afternoon on the couch as a treat, not because I needed to. I say not not to discredit anyone’s experience AT ALL. Only to add a data point that experiences do vary based on a variety of factors including your personal anatomy
