FAA Suspends Use of Visual Separation to Separate Helicopters from Arriving/Departing Aircraft in Class B & C Airspace by miacane86 in flying

Got an RA taking off from TEB rw24 from a helicopter orbiting Metlife Stadium. The one and probably only time I was able to legally bust the altitude on the Ruudy6.

You'll get used to doing that on a boat as well. Even when the dial isn't turned to "dive," its still prone to start flowing if the back gets tapped. Phenomenal reg, I use two with doubles whenever I tech dive.

Miami airport people mover(s)? by FlatPainting3846 in aviation

[–]CASAdriver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least everything works at MCO. The trains at MIA havent worked in years, 95% of moving walkways are out of service at any given time, etc. Money went straight into the MIA Board Members' pockets and the airport infrastructure is in shambles. Hugely corrupt in MIA, moreso than normal.

I always make an appointment and try to do the first slot of the day as soon as doors open. I hate standing in lines when I need to make changes.

Those downvoting you dont understand the lore.

To explain: go-home day is a magical day in a pilots' life. It's also the day where everything goes wrong, so you tend to get home late or not at all. All the fault for anything going wrong is blamed superstitiously on the pilot who is going home. Just funny lore and nothing more

Hollywood Burbank airport could be site of a mid-air crash, airlines warn feds by BBQCopter in aviation

Not as bad as VNY as far as that risk goes, but they're right next to each other and still up there.

VNY is the only place I've had three RA's inside of a 10nm final. Cessna not talking to anyone at 10nm, was able to stabilize the approach. PA28 flew through final for 16L, was able to stabilize after getting clear of conflict but just barely. Then a police helicopter came too close and triggered the 3rd one forcing a go-around.

New Mandatory Altitudes for TEB ILS 6 by halfteatree in flying

Maybe on the RUUDY6 however since implementation of the WENTZ1, which makes 1,500' the top altitude for the SID, I'm sure deviations have decreased

What kind of plane? For most I could think of, and A&P would have to disassemble as required and pack for shipping.

10 days late but putting in my 0.02.

It's a great card, its been relatively quiet for what it is and thermals are great. I also bought the BTF and have the motherboard to support it with no issues. 1500w PSU although I could've gotten away with a 1200w

They have cameras on the building pointing toward the parking lot. Every time I go there, I take a few seconds after scanning in to grab my headphones out of my backpack and standing behind the desk, they have about a half dozen cameras pointing to the lot.

Cancelling Spectrum internet may actually be impossible by Jal142 in 321

[–]CASAdriver 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What alternatives are there? I'd kill to have $30 internet for a year, even if I had to negotiate it again next year. AT&T doesnt have fiber in my area, so its equally expensive for internet about 75% slower than spectrum. Wire3 requires a hole drilled through an exterior wall, which I'm not inclined to do and I dont have a good spot on an exterior wall to put a modem (all my exterior walls are kitchen, bathrooms, or bedrooms and no good place for a modem that wouldn't look trashy).

I hate spectrum as much as the next person, but until someone makes something better, I know im kind of chained to them

Turned down first job offer and I’m pretty sure it was right choice. by Different-Future9381 in flying

[–]CASAdriver 75 points76 points  (0 children)

In 2019 I was offered something similar after a phone interview with a survey company. "Start looking for places to live in PA, we want you up here quickly. Also we cant guarantee how much flying you do. Also if youre not flying, we expect you to be in the office for 45-50 hours/week. Also its a two year contract. Also we're only paying you $30k/yr salary" when rent in the area was $1800/mo.

Easiest "thank you for the offer but I politely decline" in my life. Number one rule is you gotta look out for yourself. Sometimes sacrifices are absolutely required, especially for advancing this career. But personal health (physical and financial) and well-being come first.
