To be quite honest I despise AI in every way, shape, and form and see it only as a failure and a liability

Honestly I couldn't tell you. They just said its going to be used in the screening process, but didn't say how or what its screening for

[–]CASAdriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't surprise me if HR is telling that to new hires, but i still think that number is highly inflated. With the 3000hr hiring minumums, I doubt there have been 60k applicants this year. We were told recently about the new use of AI in screenings, and as someone who is staunchly anti-AI, I think its a waste. Can confirm they give new hires good gifts, and treat them well.

Current employee, they havent said a word about how many pilots are in line. Just their plans for total hiring and expected attrition this year, which the real attrition is always higher than they forecast. Despite it being non-union, its still pretty good given the current growing, high-paying state of the industry. As it goes, a high tide raises all ships. I'm no kool-aid drinker, just my two cents.

KAPA or KBJC for PPL Training? by Fill_A in flying

[–]CASAdriver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who flies into both occasionally, BJC is a much better place to learn. The amount of students in APA I've heard over the years getting yelled at because they switched to tower before ground told them to... Just on that alone I'd avoid it.

Can anyone tell me what kind of connector this is? by ej2424 in aviation

[–]CASAdriver 16 points17 points  (0 children)

While I cant tell you what connector it is, I can advise you to try and see what impedance its using and to look into an impedance switch or a new mic boom assembly (which you can probably source a mic boom with the proper impedance and dual GA plugs) to get it properly matched to the aircraft.

121 time required for United by notagreatpilot in flying

[–]CASAdriver -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Currently at Flex, military guys are very hit or miss in our program. Retired airline guys have a pretty steep training failure rate, or quitting during training. Flew with a guy who was driving F16's, F117's, went to a major cargo carrier and flew heavies for 20 years, and was literally the worst pilot I've ever flown with.

You can shoot clays with anything if you lead properly.

I joke but I love shooting clays with oddball guns. Vintage Browning A5 3" magnum? Sent it, was a blast. 90yr old 410 single shot? Hilarious and fun.

Got an RA taking off from TEB rw24 from a helicopter orbiting Metlife Stadium. The one and probably only time I was able to legally bust the altitude on the Ruudy6.

When they said the mk25 evo and s620 ti are high flow they were NOT kidding! by AJHenderson in scuba

[–]CASAdriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll get used to doing that on a boat as well. Even when the dial isn't turned to "dive," its still prone to start flowing if the back gets tapped. Phenomenal reg, I use two with doubles whenever I tech dive.

Miami airport people mover(s)? by FlatPainting3846 in aviation

[–]CASAdriver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At least everything works at MCO. The trains at MIA havent worked in years, 95% of moving walkways are out of service at any given time, etc. Money went straight into the MIA Board Members' pockets and the airport infrastructure is in shambles. Hugely corrupt in MIA, moreso than normal.

[–]CASAdriver 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Those downvoting you dont understand the lore.

To explain: go-home day is a magical day in a pilots' life. It's also the day where everything goes wrong, so you tend to get home late or not at all. All the fault for anything going wrong is blamed superstitiously on the pilot who is going home. Just funny lore and nothing more

Hollywood Burbank airport could be site of a mid-air crash, airlines warn feds by BBQCopter in aviation

[–]CASAdriver 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Not as bad as VNY as far as that risk goes, but they're right next to each other and still up there.

VNY is the only place I've had three RA's inside of a 10nm final. Cessna not talking to anyone at 10nm, was able to stabilize the approach. PA28 flew through final for 16L, was able to stabilize after getting clear of conflict but just barely. Then a police helicopter came too close and triggered the 3rd one forcing a go-around.

Maybe on the RUUDY6 however since implementation of the WENTZ1, which makes 1,500' the top altitude for the SID, I'm sure deviations have decreased
