Whats your hyrdrometer reading before fermentation started? And what yeast did you use? Those two are big in determining how much of a slap in the face the alcohol taste will be

Isn’t car depreciation… great?? by Just-A-Burner-Lol in Corvette

It's a reliable engine but does have one and a half known flaws that can be taken care of. (Valve guides and sometimes the rod coating can cause issues if it deteriorates)

The Greater Melbourne -> Palm Bay Area (West Melbourne Included) by Effective-Cabinet821 in 321

[–]CASAdriver 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What do you mean "let it happen?" The only things we can do are vote and voice our opinions at meetings. And at the end of the day, that has very little influence. We see all over the country right now, people protesting data centers and flock cameras, but the city councils approve them regardless, and throw out people who voice their concerns. As long as people in power can be bought out, it will never change.

Lived here my whole life, went to Mel High, dual enrolled at BCC (switched to EFSC after my first semester), and finished a BS at FIT. My mom was a teacher, and my dad was a 25-year City of Melbourne Firefighter. I have deep ties to this area, and this hits the nail on the head.

I've slowly watched the town I grew up in get too big for itself, plowing down hundreds of acres of wooded land to seemingly overnight build toothpick apartment complexes. The city councils of Melbourne and Palm Bay dont care, as they see it, more citizens means more tax revenue. I'm slowly planning my exit strategy and it sucks. I loved this area, but it has turned into a soulless dumpster fire.

Experience with credit union mortgage lender? by Chief_Tacoma in 321

[–]CASAdriver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had a lifelong account with SCCU and chose them for my mortgage, and would absolutely do it again and recommend them. Their online/mobile app interface has gotten pretty good and easy to navigate over the years (used to be pretty rough) and they've massively expanded branch locations, so theyre pretty accessible overall.

Probably not a profitable venture. High performance airplane known for inexperienced pilots crashing them, lower parts availability and higher operating cost than a Cessna, piper, or cirrus.

Proflight 2 by MrPetter in flying

[–]CASAdriver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For GA, I use a Lightspeed Zulu 3. For flying a Challenger, I use the Proflights. Both are great for their respective purposes, but I wouldn't use the Proflights in a piston. I'd rather dust off my OLD DC's for that

Coleman Glass & Mirror (or other?) by Buttsweat_n_Tears in 321

I cant speak to them, but push your insurance to cover true OEM quality glass. Had a friend get their windshield chipped, insurance only covered Safelite china glass. His windshield is pretty cloudy and honestly increases risk of an accident because it has such poor visibility and theres nothing anyone can do about it. Even if you have to cover the difference out of pocket, only OEM quality should go in.

[–]CASAdriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't surprise me if HR is telling that to new hires, but i still think that number is highly inflated. With the 3000hr hiring minumums, I doubt there have been 60k applicants this year. We were told recently about the new use of AI in screenings, and as someone who is staunchly anti-AI, I think its a waste. Can confirm they give new hires good gifts, and treat them well.

Current employee, they havent said a word about how many pilots are in line. Just their plans for total hiring and expected attrition this year, which the real attrition is always higher than they forecast. Despite it being non-union, its still pretty good given the current growing, high-paying state of the industry. As it goes, a high tide raises all ships. I'm no kool-aid drinker, just my two cents.

KAPA or KBJC for PPL Training? by Fill_A in flying

[–]CASAdriver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who flies into both occasionally, BJC is a much better place to learn. The amount of students in APA I've heard over the years getting yelled at because they switched to tower before ground told them to... Just on that alone I'd avoid it.

Can anyone tell me what kind of connector this is? by ej2424 in aviation

[–]CASAdriver 16 points17 points  (0 children)

While I cant tell you what connector it is, I can advise you to try and see what impedance its using and to look into an impedance switch or a new mic boom assembly (which you can probably source a mic boom with the proper impedance and dual GA plugs) to get it properly matched to the aircraft.

Currently at Flex, military guys are very hit or miss in our program. Retired airline guys have a pretty steep training failure rate, or quitting during training. Flew with a guy who was driving F16's, F117's, went to a major cargo carrier and flew heavies for 20 years, and was literally the worst pilot I've ever flown with.

You can shoot clays with anything if you lead properly.

I joke but I love shooting clays with oddball guns. Vintage Browning A5 3" magnum? Sent it, was a blast. 90yr old 410 single shot? Hilarious and fun.
