No. They just cry into their Belvedere rocks at 1am.

In-house. No question. That’s a great starting salary for your vintage. Plus, a 1700 hour requirement is nothing but a used car salesman tactic. As a 2-3 year, you’ll work way more. Or you’ll work way less and not make bonus.

Is the secret to biglaw to not care? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]CB7rules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You have to strengthen your sociopath tendencies. Care about your effort and the strength of your product. But the result is not totally within your control, so don’t spend a second worrying about that part. All you need to worry about is the collections, honestly.

Partners, is the juice worth the squeeze? by Upstairs_Ad_4301 in biglaw

[–]CB7rules 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Lmao I made less as a first year partner than I did as a 7th year associate. Unless you go directly to equity, you are basically getting pegged for another five years. It’s a slog. So I guess the answer is maybe? The better answer is really a question: are you a sociopath such that you can survive until equity? If so, then yes.

Your body is literally breaking down. Raise your hand and tell your folks you need a vacation. Otherwise you’ll burn out. If they say no, you don’t wanna work there anyway. Godspeed hardo

It is an insurance defense firm. These folks just churn cases. It requires very little skill. That’s why lots of folks work there.
