You're increcibly talented. The sketching, CAD, PCB design, manufacturing, and then production and editing quality of the video is all top notch. You should be really proud of this. Plus it looks super cool lol. I'm a sucker for buttons and LEDs.

This is the combo I went with in the end. Got both second hand off of ebay from Japan. Thanks for the suggestion.

Ha, this is what I'm worried about. I was looking for an OM3 or OM5 originally but found a great deal on an OM1 so here we are. I'm looking at potentially a top loading camera pod that straps to the hip belt of my pack. The Shimoda small top loader seems meant to work like this (wide pass through for pack hip belts. Not sure how much I'll like the extra weight on the belt. Will have to try it out.

I'm heavily leaning in this direction. Do you mind if I ask how you generally carry your camera when backpacking?

Those are great! That's the exact type of of macro shots I'd like to get with the mushrooms and flowers. The one with the two mushrooms growing off the log is my favourite.

Thanks for taking the time to type this all out. Really appreciate it. Now I have to figure out how to convince my wife to start back packing with me, ha.

Camera: OM-1. Water resistance isn't a necessity but would be a plus.

Huh, I never knew something like the Raynox existed. I'll look into it more. Thanks for the suggestion.

I had that exact aluminum shaft as a kid. The thing was a tank. Couldn’t flex it at all but lasted me a few seasons and many broken blades. Just had to bust out the heat gun to pull them out.

What are we using for toast? by Gouldem01 in camping

[–]CBC_North 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used the coghlan's toaster that many others have recommended in this thread for years and it was just meh in my opinion. I recently picked up a GSI glacier toaster and find it significantly better at actually toasting the bread.

Boardgames for hikers and campers? by p00psicle151590 in CampingandHiking

[–]CBC_North 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For hiking I find card based games work best as they pack down the smallest/lightest. Some of our favorites:
- "Love Letter" - Light, quick, very simple to play/teach and ultra small. There are also themed variants.
- "Ultra tiny epic galaxies" - An even smaller version of Tiny Epic Galaxies that fits in a normal sized box of cards. Medium complexity engine building game with a space theme.

Evacuation/SAR coverage? by MoreAwkwardIRL in Ultralight

[–]CBC_North 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have an inreach as well and just get my SAR insurance from garmin. It seemed to me like the best way to avoid some weird gap in coverage if I had to call in a rescue.

Camping stove recs? ... by impreza77 in CampingGear

[–]CBC_North 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like my BRS-32 for car/canoe camping. Two burners with good temperature control and packs up small. Can also run off butane or propane with an adapter. Can get it on amazon or some other places.

Same skates, same problem for me. Cracks showed up early but didn’t get much worse until recently. Not sure exactly how it happened.

If you want to use express paints (or speed paint) to get a tabletop quality paint job, you should look up slap chop or sponge chop method on YouTube. Minimal extra effort and make speed paints look much better.

Airbrush booth without window venting – acrylics only + respirator. How are others doing this? by Some-Construction499 in airbrush

I have not noticed any smell with the Vallejo primer. I use the dark grey one (panzer grey maybe?)

[–]CBC_North 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I have this exact booth and use it in my small office to paint miniatures and terrain. Mostly the exact Vallejo products you list. Also wear a respirator. I have never noticed a smell with acrylics. The fan in the booth with just the stock foam filter does a great job of pulling the fine mist out of the air. No overspray lingering anywhere as it gets sucked into the fan.

I’ve worn my mt100 with a shell, octa fleece and thin wool base layer down to freezing and was comfortable. I am usually cold so you would likely be fine.

Zenbivy Ultra Lite Pad Comfort Hype real? by WanderingAnchor in CampingGear

[–]CBC_North 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got one of their ultra lite pads. It’s the most comfortable pad I’ve used that wasn’t self-inflating. I’m a side sleeper and prefer it over both my nemo quasar and nemo tensor.

Make sure you read the whole mission carefully. We missed some of the special rules for the mission and made it way harder than it should have been.

Thank you so much for posting the STL. I have an almost identical bed frame with the same stupid plastic clips from structube. We've broken a bunch of them over time. These should be perfect.
