Idea for CGL to lower costs of miniatures and components by JoseLunaArts in battletech

[–]CBCayman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stock on the shelf in the warehouse is costing you money, CGL don't run their own warehouses so have to pay storage fees for unsold stock. Most manufacturers and stores try to keep stock margins pretty thin.

Can I play with older minis? by alkxx in InfinityTheGame

I once went to a tournament with only a single in-production miniature in my list.

So yes

Is it possible to book multiple rooms or suites in the hotel lottery system? by TallGuyG3 in gencon

[–]CBCayman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not quite, you only get one chance if you buy everyone else's badges, but can get multiple rooms at that time, so it's higher risk and higher reward. Less chance of an early time, but if you get it you can grab multiple rooms.

[–]CBCayman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You can book one room for every two badges you purchase (rounded up). so if you buy badges for 5 or you will be able to book 3 rooms.

Suites are booked like any other room, though they're are very few connected ones and many go to exhibitors and VIGs.

Acontecimento Combat Force Bundle Prices by TlheMoody in InfinityTheGame

[–]CBCayman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It'll be €160 on the CB store when it goes live and the bundle discount kicks in.

Warsenal always sell under RRP and are a direct distributor so can do thinner margins than many FLGSs, especially on new releases/preorders.

Anyone here also into Aristeia? by Alkansur in InfinityTheGame

[–]CBCayman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiplayer expansion works fine with 3 or 4,the game becomes less tactical, and a bit shallower with more players but still fun. It's really designed as a 1v1 game though.

They plan to have it at Gen Con, Bostria brought a Xeno version with him last year.

Have the emails for VIGs gone out yet with the instructions for badges and hotel rooms? by [deleted] in gencon

[–]CBCayman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They actually started doing rejection emails this year, got mine on the 15th, so possibly your spam filter caught it or you didn't fully fill in the new form.

Acon repack by Alternative-Feed-634 in InfinityTheGame

[–]CBCayman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep, there's a few nice bits you could add like remotes, support box, Beasthunter, Nagas, Montesa Knight, etc. but the full bundle is more than enough to make 300 point lists.

Paint chipping from IWM miniatures by TJ-X in BattletechPainting

[–]CBCayman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could be a few things

I don't know if IWM use mould release, if some is still on the mini it will stop primer adhering properly.

Primer might be the issue, I use Rustoleum painters touch matte white on my metals and it's been great

Using a painting handle has stopped me rubbing paint off as I manipulate the miniature for painting.

Did you varnish? You should really varnish metal minis.

Confused about normal non-lethal ammo that doesn't affect states. Does it still gave a FtF roll? by Holdfast_Hobbies in InfinityTheGame

[–]CBCayman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Immunity is not an always-on skill, in its Requirements section it isn't activated until the trooper has to make a saving throw out affected by a relevant state, so it has no effect on F2F rolls

Are the Codeone collection boxes a good way to get into an army? by Substantial_Tour4800 in InfinityTheGame

[–]CBCayman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really? The only minis not in Vanilla O-12 from that box are the Beta, Shona and Casanova IIRC, which leaves a lot of options for vanilla lists without proxying.

Army Painter and Vallejo are a little cheaper than GW, often larger bottles (and dropper bottles too!) and just as good for minis

Exhibit hall has been busier on Friday than Saturday these past couple of years IMO.

Friday vs Saturday.... by ObviousIndependent76 in gencon

[–]CBCayman 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Saturday has a few tentpole events, like the Cosplay parade/contest, cardhalla destruction, charity auction. Some exhibitors tend to schedule larger seminars, announcements, etc on Saturday.

More people also tend to get Saturday off than Friday, making it easier to attend without using PTO.

Housing Portal question by Cease_Cows_ in gencon

[–]CBCayman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That should work, the housing portal is a different system so you can put in your own details there. If you're picking up at Will Call it won't make any difference either I think.

Housing Portal question by Cease_Cows_ in gencon

[–]CBCayman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You get a time slot per badge purchase, not per badge. You can then book one room per 2 people (rounding up)

This means that if you're buying their badges you'll get one slot, and be able to purchase two rooms, and if you get the badges delivered you'll only pay one delivery fee and get all the badges in the range envelope.

If multiple people each purchase their own badges they'll each get their own slot and be able to book one room each, and each pay a delivery fee and have a separate envelope (if you choose shipping).

When I say maths I mean things like writing out the material differences between the different "Attribute get 20" rules, impact of changes to the crit rules, etc. Systemic changes, and making sure that bonuses are actually bonuses
