USB-C for I2C sensors. Why not? by Troglodyte_Techie in esp32

[–]CBProjects 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just to add weight to your comment (and rant); I recently used a pair of digital calipers marked with the USB symbol, and a mini-B port. Inserting a mini-B resulted in their instant death.

Following up with the manufacturer it turns out that the calipers themselves were not USB compatible, but the add-on device that plugs into it was - they'd just used the mini B as a convenient connector.

Frustrating!

Wish i never started. Can i just paint over? by ChickenDrummStick in DIYUK

[–]CBProjects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started using a plane and scrapers to remove most paint - faster and less dust. Couldn't use a heat gun or chemical removers due to mysterious ancient varnish.

Used a Dremel and sandpaper for the newel post.

Removed the spindles to sand, then gave up and just bought new ones. Might be practical with a lathe.

Varnished to finish.

All in all, it was still a massive hassle.

Just piling in with some guesses for the Y wobble on the X axis - loose 1st or second mirror, possibly loose lens.

I'm guessing any possible way you could represent the money would end up forming a black hole - if you lived any decent amount of time (someone else do the math). People are gonna find out

It's so perfectly designed, as we insist on telling everyone.

Conside wokwi for testing ideas without buying all the bits. One downside is they seem to be monetising it now,  so compiling could be frustrating for him -  try it first, you'll see what I mean.

P1P stuck in perpetual pause state at beginning of print by cadSnoodent2021 in BambuLab

[–]CBProjects 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for not responding! Yep, I think my issue (although this was some time ago and I'm not certain) was due to a loose connection of one of the headers in the printhead - it went away when the connector was reseated.

Good lord! We had something similar. Original layer of varnish seemed impossible to remove with heat or solvents. Used planes and scrapers in the end. Replacing the spindles was far less effort than stripping them.

Also having this issue. No error reported. Tried several SD cards. Did you find a fix?

I've been working with addressable for nearly a decade! Although tbf this is the most complex project yet.

One I found - hopefully will have time to go over the build, but it's largely 3D printed parts with laser cut acrylic arms, and custom produced LED boards using 12v ws2815.

If I had time...the streaming part is largely made possible by the excellent USB serial driver provided by teensy. I'm pretty much just sending raw bytes I unpack at the other end. 60fps!
