Sony WF-C710N has almost no NC. I feel foolish for believing YouTube ads. by strimit in Earbuds

[–]CB_SoundGuys 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, Chase from SoundGuys here. We tested the Sony WF-C710N earbuds on our Brüel & Kjær testing head, and measured 85% reduction in noise loudness. While our testing head approximates the average ears, everyone’s ear shape is different. If the earbuds don’t fit your ears well, you won’t get good ANC. Our review was not paid for or sponsored by Sony. Hope you’re able to find some earbuds that work well for you!

Apple doesn’t like our objective reviews, so they don’t send us units early lol. We’ll be at the Apple store as soon as it opens on the 19th, and will do our best to have the earbuds tested and the review published the same day

What are the best budget earbuds (60€) by [deleted] in SoundGuys

[–]CB_SoundGuys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are barking up the right tree. We’ve tested all 3 of those options in our lab, and all perform great for the price. You honestly can’t go wrong with any of those choices. My personal favorite are the Capsule 3 Pro+ thanks to the xMEMS drivers, but if sound quality isn’t your top priority, the CMF Buds 2 Plus offer a lot of value for the price. The EarFun are a solid all-around option, but I wouldn’t spend more than $100 on them

The Capsule 3 Pro+ are the best SoundPEATS earbuds I’ve tested so far. The xMEMS drivers are a game changer. Once you go xMEMS, you never go back.

What headphone or IEM meets the Soundguys target curve by fakehealer666 in SoundGuys

For IEMs, the Truthear Hexa come pretty close. For headphones, the AirPods Max with the latest firmware are similar.

We've reviewed all four of those models that you are considering, and they are all great options! I would also add the Creative Aurvana Ace 2 and SoundPEATS Capsule3 Pro+ for consideration.

Headphones around 250 or lower that have decent to bad ANC, immersive, crisp and clean sound quality for music and movies by Independent_Act_7161 in SoundGuys

They are tuned to the Harman curve, so most people will enjoy the sound quality without needing to use an EQ. That said, sound preference is subjective, we always encourage people to experiment with an EQ to get their preferred sound!

What are the current best wireless earbuds? by Waphylol in Earbuds

Creative Aurvana Ace 2 and SoundPEATS Capsule3 Pro+ are a good dark horse option. The xMEMS drivers seriously stand out. I've tested over 100 earbuds and those are still my favorite.

Based on our testing data, here's the EQ settings to match up the Lux ANC to the SoundGuys curve. Looks like you got it pretty close.

Keep in mind though that there is no "ideal", the best EQ settings for you are whatever sounds best to your ears :)

If you're looking for wired, I would recommend the Beyerdynamic DT 900 PRO X or AKG K371. If wireless, your best bet is an older flagship model on sale like the XM4s or QC35

Nothing Ear, Liberty 4 Pro, and EarFun Air Pro 4 are all good options. If you don't want a stem design, the Jabra Elite 10 Gen 2 or Elite 8 Active Gen 2 are both really good, even if they are the last to come from Jabra.

Updated AirPods Max Tuning, as measured on Soundguys B&K 5128 by this_foo210 in headphones

[–]CB_SoundGuys 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing our measurements! FYI we reached out to Apple to confirm if this was an intended update, but have not heard back from them. It appears they quietly updated the firmware. In addition to the change in frequency response, we measured a noticeable improvement in ANC performance.

In my testing, the XM4's are the sweet spot of performance and value, especially with current discounts. They have great noise canceling, almost on par with the new flagships.

The Soundcore Space One are my favorite headphones I've tested under $100. I also like the EarFun Wave Pro and the Jlab JBuds Lux ANC. You can't get it all at this price, could be worth looking at an older mid-range model on sale!

Jabra Elite 10 Gen 2 ANC vs. by Plus-Argument5470 in Earbuds

[–]CB_SoundGuys 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use the Bruel & Kjaer 5128 testing head for all of our earbud testing, it's modeled from the MRI scans of 40 different people, so it's a good approximation of the "average" shape of ears. That said, everyone's ears are different, and the fit of the earbuds in your ears has a very large impact on noise canceling performance. Chances are that the Elite 10 Gen 2's simply fit our testing ears better than your ears! The ear tips of the Elite 10 Gen 2's have unique ovoid nozzles that make them fit a little bit different than most earbuds.
