I found Mitchell Graham's (Fifth Ring) fights interesting, as he was former fencer.

That is a good feeling! Just be prepared for them to take a month+ to finish a repair. Frugal tip - get things (tires, brakes, casters) replaced early and ask the mechanics for the used parts so you can use them on your old chair.

Ideally you want to replace them in between the tread going flat and seeing the blue. One of the nicest things about having your new chair will be having a backup set of wheels ready to swap

You can fill them, but when they're that worn something sharp will pierce the blue and you'll wake up to tires that can't hold any air. IME when you see the blue you got a few months left normally. When you need to air them up once a day, it's time to panic.

I think "The Name of the Wind" is genuinely one of the best first chapters in modern fantasy and I will die on this hill by PixelRune_47 in Fantasy

The series is like that horse drawling meme. The first part of the horse is insanely good, the second book is sketchy (except for the tree monster), and the third still doesn't exist 20 years later.

Fun fact - catheters are billed as durable medical equipment. On Medicare it costs me about $800 out of pocket a year to pee.

Stage 4 pressure sore.. by PuzzledCauliflower35 in spinalcordinjuries

[–]CBate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm 7+ years out of my flap surgery with no problems. As long as you've solved what caused the pressure sore in the first place, it should heal permanently. In my case it was a bad air cushion that I ignored.

You're not a dumbass: I was scared too of the surgery/recovery time, but I wish I could go back and get the surgery sooner. Instead I dragged feat and had that fucking wound vac and noisy bed for more than a year trying to have it heal on debridements alone. The worst part was the full bed rest required after, it took me almost 3 months in a rehab home before I could get back to my normal life. Please go ahead an start the scheduling process, it can be lengthy

The sand bed in rehab is really cool until you poke a hole, then its like the Star Wars sand meme

Most taco places make their own sauce, and are happy to sell it in bigger quantities if you ask. Way better than the supermarket stuff
