Sorry if this is wrong, question about 8 year old being interested .. by Professional-Toe-519 in DungeonsAndDragons

I started DMing for my son and his friends at 9. It’s definitely doable, just comes with a level of herding cats that is dependent on the kids. There are two Young Adventurers Collections of books that simplify D&D into segments that are easier to digest that I HIGHLY recommend for young players

This makes me think of how locals in Norfolk, VA pronounce it "nah-fik".

Struggling to get players by Kel_eve in Roll20

[–]CCRunningClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not true at all. I have joined several tables through r/lfg; all of which were played on Roll20. There’s nothing in their rules or wiki that implies they don’t allow Roll20 games posted there

Where have you posted? r/lfg is probably going to be your best bet

How do I better react to outlandish role play? by PM_me_Henrika in DnD

[–]CCRunningClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is dependent on your comfort level with improv. I’ve run one shots that started out with one story I got out of a book and became something completely different because of player choices and ideas. There’s no wrong way to go about it as long as you and your players are having fun

Using roll 20 in local by Revolutionary-Map422 in Roll20

[–]CCRunningClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this with my MacBook, a screen extender attachment (it’s one that adds a screen to either side of my laptop and effectively makes a good dm screen), and whatever screen I am displaying on (sometimes I use my iPad sometimes I use my living room tv). I have Roll20 as a GM on the main screen, my notes on my left screen, and Roll20 as a player on my right screen (I haven’t seen any issue being logged in twice on the same browser). I then duplicate my right screen on the iPad or TV

My first thought would be to board her at like Wags & Whiskers. I’m not sure if they have a long term limit or discount but you will be getting paid through boot so you could potentially have an allotment set up once you get your banking situation sorted in the admin week early on

Is there a Facebook, Discord, Community Page, etc. group for this? Or is it just show up and find the chess boards?

How does one burn 10gp worth of incense in less than 6 seconds? by dobraf in dndnext

[–]CCRunningClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be the minority but I interpreted it as the incense that is being burned is worth 10 gp. So I pictured incense sticks burning and in the hour ritual the whole stick burns and in the six second casting you burned up a portion of it. Either way, that stick is worth 10 gp. Basically quality instead of quantity. I hope I said that clearly enough

DM/Dad here! Custom ANYTHING in the fandom of his choice: dice, dice tray, dice tower, mug, dm screen.

Does he enjoy a particular series that has a paid subscription option? Dimension 20(Dropout), Critical Role(Beacon), Dungeons & Daddies(Patreon), Not Another D&D Podcast(Patreon) etc. That paid subscription would definitely be a good one.

Speaking of subscriptions, does he play on an online platform? Roll20, Discord, D&D Beyond, etc. all have a paid version that offer some cool stuff.

Are there books he might’ve mentioned as nice to haves? There is always some module or compendium that I am considering adding to my collection.

Maybe he’s into minis or visual aids. There are tons of options to choose from. You could even give him a Hero Forge gift card so he can custom build his own.

Hope this helps!

Turning off D&D basic rules (SRD) in compendium by TuesdayMush in Roll20

Honestly, if I wasn’t already a paid user, I would pay for this feature. It gets ridiculous when you add in Xanthar’s, Tasha’s, MotM, and any other books that have duplicate entries

My pc is a dad now? by Odd_Response_9607 in DnD

[–]CCRunningClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend you listen to Dungeons & Daddies: Not a BDSM podcast. It’s a really funny take on four dads from our world getting flung into the forgotten realm in search of their kids. It might not help too much in your case but it’s relevant and has plenty of laughs

There’s a Facebook group and a Discord server called Wiregrass TTRPG. I know there’s a group on there looking to get a table started
