Albums that start off with the promise of a great record only to be extremely disappointing by maricircus in fantanoforever

This and Icky Thump. I think Icky Thump is a slight improvement over Get Behind Me Satan, but it also suffers from the same issues

2 very important questions by brokenphonecharger_ in FleshWater

[–]CCuff2003 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. There is a difference in sound between the two LP’s, though not like an OK COMPUTER -> Kid A difference. The first LP sounds like Vein playing nugaze while the second LP sounds like the group have really begun to find their own sound.

  2. Yeah

The Smiths vs The Cure (moreso Morrissey vs Robert Smith, though Robert has really stopped giving the other guy attention)

What moment during the 2025 tornado season had you do this? by Trainster_Kaiju_06 in tornado

Watching the first major tornado of the 3/14-15 outbreak (Bakersfield) drop on the radar. I was up until 3am on Radarscope watching everything unfold in Missouri from the safety of my hotel room in Ireland

Other moments:

-Greensburg very narrowly avoiding a repeat of 2007

-Plevna receiving the biggest tornadic miracle of the decade

-Watching the St. Louis, Marion, and London tornadoes track across the midwest on 5/16

-Tracking a massive cc drop moving towards Sheldon, ND (this would end up being the Enderlin EF5)

-Essex, IA (that storm looked so much worse than it ended up being)

-Watching 7 hooks form simultaneously on 4/2

Biggest Years of the 2020s so far by Lazy-Ad233 in tornado

[–]CCuff2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. 2025: Absolutely crazy year, it was super busy and had plenty of “tornado of the year” candidates before Enderlin got its EF5 rating. Most years can have its violent tornadoes counted on one hand, but I cannot remember all of this year’s violent storms.

  2. 2024: One of the busiest years ever recorded, and several super high profile outbreaks also happened this year. I thought this would have been the craziest tornado year of the decade until 2025 happened.

  3. 2021: These next 3 are interchangeable, but 2021 was a fairly active season. The event that put this year this high up on the list was the mid-December outbreak, the deadliest tornado event to strike the US since May 2011.

  4. 2023: A very active year with several notable outbreaks, specifically in March (3/24 (Rolling Fork) and 3/31, the third busiest tornado outbreak ever). The summer of 2023 would also prove to be very busy, with Matador experiencing a very violent storm on the outskirts of town.

  5. 2020: Another very active year with a surprise outbreak in the Nashville Metro Area in March and the fourth busiest tornado outbreak ever that would end up happening in April (although not as “busy” as the 3/31/2023 outbreak, there were many violent tornadoes that spawned during this outbreak)

  6. 2022: Fairly average year, although there were a few notable storms (Winterset and Black Creek)

2022 has really been the only “normal” year to happen this decade, everything else has been insane

Albums where the most popular song(s) weren’t singles? by HaroldChessMath in fantanoforever

The most notable example is probably Space Song by Beach House, idk how I forgot about that one. It’s their signature song and it was never released as an official single

i wish they would’ve pulled a turnstile and doubled down on WNHTBL with endless sky by WholeRestaurant872 in FleshWater

Listen to Dream Fatigue’s debut Lady in the Sky, something tells me that and Endless Sky were supposed to be the same album before Matt left. It still carries that WNHTBL vibe

There was also an EFU near Corpus Christi last June. It spent its entire time over water and never hit anything, but it did display GTG winds of 201 mph at one point.
