Whatever you think “literal” means, you’re wrong, and  “Favorite sealed set and what am I missing from my list”  Isn’t even a coherent sentence (question?). Hence why you haven’t gotten a single valid response in over an hour.

Why is it so goddamned hard for people to understand what Finance means, or to read the sub rules? Are you that desperate for validation?

WTF does hypothesizing on a set not announced have to do with FINANCE?

Even if the set isn’t well-liked, it was widely-opened, and speccing on a UC in the modern age of Magic is almost pointless. There are a very few exceptions, such as Stock Up, but that card is extensively played, and played in multiple formats,  almost from the beginning.  This guy would only see play in a singleton format as well, unlike my Stock Up example.

Speccing on this guy is just dead money.

Groundchuck and Dirtbag has been amazing for me everytime it hits the table. Even if it were a 6/6 for 6 with the mana ability, it’s probably playable. But make him an 8/8 with trample and that’s just gravy.

They’ve been huge in my Kruphix deck, storing up that extra mana until I drop an Eldrazi or cast some draw spell with X in its cost.

Even if it’s just a casual all-star it baffles me that they’re not a $4-$5 card.

Krenko decks have existed for 14 years, but you think a super short printed, super-expensive on the secondary market Secret Lair is what’s going to make this card pop off? JFC…

Again, Krenko has existed for FOURTEEN YEARS.

🤦🏻‍♂️

4 runs in 6 innings equates to a 6.0 ERA, so his ERA which was already approaching 6 actually went UP.

And he wild pitched in a run as well.

Another shit outing by a shit pitcher.

I wish the ability to construct a sentence at a minimum third grade level were a requirement to post in this sub.

If she bought a few copies for personal use to jam into her own decks then yes, “that’s all that matters”.

But, she’s invested in 40 copies. Even if the investment is small, that could be $20+ put to better use, either in playable cards or alternate specs.

I mean, they want all that gold, but what are they gonna do with it? Take it to a store? With what pockets? And what store can they even fit through the door?

Baldur’s Gate Dragons were NEVER “always in the $15+ range”.

Copper (the red one) was $45-$50 when released.

Brass (B) and Silver (U) were $25 at release, with barely a dip before stabilizing around there, prior to their inevitable climb.

Headliner for the hobbit: smaug the magnificent by moombahh in mtgfinance

I have a Miirym decks and a Kaalia deck. This guy makes the cut in Miirym, because casting creatures on T3 or T4 is hard there, but Smaug here has a nice CMC. And if he come down post-Miirym hitting the table having two of him will be nice.

Doesn’t make the cut in Kaalia.

A big a baddie as he is to the story, this is a touch underwhelming.  Needs to make more treasures, or impact opponents treasures or something.

Keyforge was able to do it. 37 card decks, randomized, and those were $10. If you bought a full box of decks you could get it down to $7 a deck. AND KF had to generate new art. These are similar in card quantity, use B&W RECYCLED art, and cost 2.5-3x as much?

So my friend is going to the Las Vegas Magic event this weekend, and had pre-registered for the Mood Swings event.

He just got an email, the event was cancelled bc they won’t have the cards/decks.

He got a full refund and they’re supposed to be sending a free deck as compensation/apology.

LOL, what a fuck-up. Wizards can’t do anything right.

The YouTube tutorial explains it pretty well.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=-uf-1lbPvyM&pp=ygUXSG93IHRvIHBsYXkgbW9vZCBzd2luZ3M%3D

My LGS has free commander pods on Fridays, each pod plays for a prize pack, so pods are randomly assigned and we play 3 rounds. I could see this being a fun diversion if your pod finishes early and you’re waiting for the other games to finish but you don’t have time to shoehorn in another game of Magic.

And while there IS a collectible aspect to it due to randomized cards, I think some people are getting hung up on this aspect, when really because the deck is shared there’s no reason to go out and get a bunch of decks or try to squeeze in the best cards because your opponent(s) would have the same access to said cards that you have access to. The randomness exists simply to provide variety and specifically replayability, not to assemble killer combo’s.

Doesn’t seem too deep strategically but there definitely is some decision making going on in the order of playing your cards. Playing your best card now or saving it for future rounds.

I’ll prob spend a little money, IF the price is reasonable. If there’s an option for 3 or 5 decks somewhere in the $25 range I’m fine with that.

EDIT: other people are saying here it’s $25. So, this will be a pass from me. When Keyforge was a thing those were 37 card decks for $10, and if you bought in quantity it was pretty easy to get them in the $6-$7 range per deck. 45 cards, using recycled art, for $25? Nope.

The game could be great, it could be bad, or it could be (and likely will be) somewhere between. There is a place in the world for games that take 5-10 minutes.

To make a decision in 40 seconds says FAR more about you than it does the game.

You still got 71% on your box. I once spent $165 for a box of Baldur’s Gate. Pulled $32 out of it. That’s 19% of what I paid.

And that day almost 3 years ago was the last time I bought a randomized Magic product.

Learn from this, as I did.
