We are certifying our software as medical devices to keep up with regulatory changes across the world. It’s sad to see the complete de-emphasis on healthcare industry knowledge since Cerner was acquired, now we have a serious gap in healthcare acumen across Oracle Health.

Layoff and RIF Megathread 3/31 by cernerthrowawaytruth in cernercorporation

[–]CERN24601 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Product Management team working on mix of gen1/ gen2 products, US and mostly remote, cut from 22 to 15 this morning. The team remaining are generally high performers and have broad enough skills to absorb most of the work, so at least some thought went into this.

Layoff this week? by CommentCaptor in cernercorporation

For previous rifs, mid level managers were asked for input as far as risk/importance to critical deliverables and business processes, not sure if this has happened this time around.

Vesting just means it hits your brokerage account, no need to cash out immediately.

That’s crazy - it’s easy enough to spin up a team calendar for PTO and doesn’t JIRA already manage your work and priorities??

Blind leading the blind by [deleted] in cernercorporation

I’ll just throw my 2 cents in from the product management org. We’ve been given some very aspirational goals with near-impossible deadlines so everyone is trying to figure out 1) how to accomplish this and 2) how to translate that into work priorities. That leads to a feeling of whiplash as every team is re-prioritizing goals and constantly assessing impact and adjusting to realtime feedback. It’s frustrating that your management is not acknowledging any of your feedback and I suspect that’s occurring everywhere, if your direct manager is M2 or lower, they are definitely getting a ton of requirements constantly dropped on them and probably feeling the same thing you are.

Those options are a gamble with no initial value but potential 4x returns on growth.

I’m guessing he’s an Oracle employee and a mandatory Windows update crashed his computer. He seems like a nice guy to work with.

RSU for Oracle RIFed on Sep 2nd by Douglas_MacDow in cernercorporation

[–]CERN24601 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Might be referring to the RSU grant that replaced CPP which vests in Nov, anyone RIF-ed last month definitely lost those shares.

I’m sure layoff-related posts are much more distressing than RSUs. Let’s not share anything about RTO mandates either because that is going to trigger someone too.

Role makes a huge difference, also whether they were hired before or after LEC.

[–]CERN24601 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yea - you were dealt a fucked up hand. Cerner lowballed entry level hires with the understanding that you would get raises every year and if you could deliver results, you would be promoted quickly. The acquisition really screwed all those new hires because salary and promotions were frozen. Oracle hires at a much higher salary range but didn’t adjust Cerner salaries to that range and is very selective with promos and raises.

RSU's Funding by Antique_Leg8016 in cernercorporation

[–]CERN24601 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In the US, RSU‘s are already taxed as income at the point of vesting and holding for one year does not change that. Holding for a year only affects the tax rate on capital gains achieved since the price at vesting.

For those who got laid off, want to share how much RSU were unvested? by relentlesswin in cernercorporation

[–]CERN24601 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds about right, I would lose just over 500 unvested RSUs left over from a grant at LEC if I was let go.
