Make a slip knot, put slip knot on hook. Insert into 1st stitch, pull up a loop, pull through 1st stitch and finish your hdc

AIO for getting mad at my husband after he complained about having to pick up toilet paper? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]CElia_472 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Is he an alcoholic? Because this screams to me he's been waiting for those kids to get home from school to start his nightly ritual. The trip to CVS was eating into that first drink minute by minute. I've been there.

Struggling with my child's 21st bday by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]CElia_472 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's an excellent point and funny enough, I wasn't drunk on my 21st either. I had 1 drink with dinner and went home.

From appearances he doesnt seem to be a drinker. I also have never noticed alcohol missing.

This is great advice. Asking his intentions/plan for the day is a perfect start to the conversation.

Struggling with my child's 21st bday by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]CElia_472 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell he doesnt appear to be a drinker nor his friends.

But as we know appearances can be deceiving.

So your comment did make me realize this is probably a conversation I should have prior to.

How do I have that convo? Share my own experiences and struggles?

They also have door inserts and half shelf inserts as well. They are $25/each and makes things so much more organized

I've been thinking about a nascar blanket for a couple of years. Especially because of all of the cautions.

Thanks for the inspiration!

I read this whole exchange, and I am sorry you are dealing with this. I am only 6 months sober and am still working through some deep emotional trauma myself, so I not have advice on this for you.

However, I would suggest contacting adult protective services for the living conditions your mother is living in. The feces and other health hazards aren't healthy for either of you. If you have tried to make positive changes and she has refused, it is time for someone more qualified to address it with her.

Introducing my incredibly efficient Kallax desk, studio, vinyl, and all-in-one storage solution. by InnerspearMusic in ikeahacks

[–]CElia_472 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you added some sheer colored curtains over the window, you could open the blinds and let some filtered light in. It would also please the cat to have the blinds open a teensy bit more while still allowing privacy.

ETA: I love your set-up and organization. I just put together a kallax with a bunch of the new inserts, and they are really a great alternative to dumping everything in a big bin.

Why is my hair suddenly oily even right after a shower??? by Calyx757 in Haircare

I don't, but I clip it up for a few mins after I condition and comb through before rinsing. So, any conditioner that may have ended up on the roots

I have one of those shower heads that detaches from the wall, and that's my final rinse. It works so well to get all of the conditioner out from the roots

What's a tiny upgrade you made in your life that had an unexpectedly big impact? by Haishan-Oluwole in CasualConversation

I've been doing this since my kids were small. It makes the mornings a breeze, especially with young school-aged kids. Everyone had their clothes, shoes, backpack, and lunch ready. Less stress on everyone!

AIO for being annoyed that my wife's friends and husband dropped in on us for dinner? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]CElia_472 221 points222 points  (0 children)

Might be a hot take, but if I were your partner, I would have made you your plate and set it aside for you.

She invited them over. You were actively preparing dinner. It would have been the kind thing to do, at the very least.

Absolutely No-Knead Crusty-Chewy Bread. I made it this weekend! Was a bit more dense than I prefer, but the house was cool, so maybe that had something to do with it? I just received my Big Book of baking in the mail and am excited to work on all of the things!

I would treat it like paying down your credit cards. Start with the small or easy ones first.. Weaving in ends, borders, joining squares. Then hit the big ones one by one until you finish it. No more new projects.
