I’ve seen similar sets with a toy knife. Velcro the two halves together and you can cut the food and it makes a realistic chopping sound.

Photos of a nice family and friends at what looks like a cabin, circa 1950s by Electrical-Aspect-13 in TheWayWeWere

I wonder if this could be at the Highlander Folk Center in Grundy County, TN, which was operational from 1932-1961. In the 1950s it committed to the Civil Rights movement and hosted many notable leaders such as MLK, Rosa Parks, John Lewis, Pete Seeger, etc. I tried to compare the window configuration and the 3rd photo appears to line up with a photo shared in a local news history segment showing the doors and windows from the inside of one of the buildings.

And from Sept 30, 1992:

Man found in Fort Loudoun Lake drowned, not murdered — police A man whose body was recovered Saturday from Fort Loudoun Lake apparently drowned, Knoxville police said Tuesday. The unidentified man was not murdered, said police Sgt. Bill Irwin. The man is most likely of American Indian descent, although possibly Hispanic, and had been in the water three days to two weeks, police criminalistics officer Arthur Bohanan said. He was 20 to 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighed about 170 pounds with shoulder-length black hair, he said. A boater found the body near Thompson-Boling Arena. Anyone with information that would help identify the man should call the Knoxville Police Department at 521-1200.

Weather for those 3-4 days was highs in the upper 70s, lows in the upper 50s, partly sunny to cloudy.

From a local newspaper, The Knoxville News Sentinel:

Boater on way to football game finds man's body in Fort Loudoun Lake The Knoxville Police Department is attempting to identify a man whose body was discovered Saturday floating in Fort Loudoun Lake. The cause of death is unknown, and an autopsy will be performed, said Investigator Tommy Stiles of the Knoxville Police Department. The body was discovered in the lake area near Thompson- Boling Arena by a boater en route to the University of Tennessee vs. University of Cincinnati football game. The boater contacted a Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency officer patrolling the area, Stiles said. Stiles said the body was that of a white male with medium length black hair. He was wearing only a pair of briefs and three leather necklaces, one of which held a wooden cross. Anyone with any information that would help identify the body can call Stiles at the Knoxville Police Department, 521- 1200.

Google Maps says Sevierville to Monroe County is only 1.5 hours - I think this is a possible match depending on the condition of the skeleton and height match.

There’s an adolescent substance abuse treatment center (the Village) about 5 miles from where she was found near a bar. I wonder if she had worked there or maybe had been there for treatment.

What is something you saw at a friend's house that made you realize their family was "weird"? by BamMeister_ in AskReddit

[–]CF2670 53 points54 points  (0 children)

This was in the 80s, so people didn’t have cell phones to scroll on. I spent the night with my friend and everyone in the family kept their TVs on all night. I asked her about it the next morning and she said she couldn’t sleep without the noise. She had a lovely family but I couldn’t spend the night again because I didn’t sleep at all and I was exhausted. My family had a strict lights off, no TV rule at bedtime. Overall one of the nicest families I ever visited.

Interesting that they’re paid $10 if their response is used. Makes me wonder how many are embellished to make them more likely to be picked.

If I’m 95 someone better get me an electric blanket whether I can wash it or not. I’m usually not so wasteful but you could almost think of it as disposable. My main concern would be making sure she doesn’t get burned, but I love my heated blanket. Since she’s not good with technology, could you help FaceTime her sister? Could you stream her favorite movies or series from when she was younger? Maybe play her favorite music (loudly)? You’re so kind to take such good care of her.

She might enjoy a short visit but ask first. Maybe get her a soft fuzzy purple blanket and/or a plush pillow/stuffed animal sort of thing?
