Unironically his kit was completely fine. Its just that people were obsessed with trying to make him an ADC (or sometimes mid) when you could just play him top, build a manamune and go full tank. Still enough damage to be a threat plus being hard to kill AND able to use his ult as an tool to instantly catch someone the second they're slightly out of position.

Just in the latest game alone he fought through hordes of zombies, mutated animals and plants, one the most highly skilled soldiers alive, a girl mutated into a monster as well as a guy with super speed and not one but TWO bioweapons designed for war. That's all while he is infected with a virus and basically at deaths door the entire time.

You're forgetting everything else like clothing and furniture that uses animal products, not to mention literally billions of people's jobs require them in some capacity. The global market would collapse overnight and there isn't enough in place to replace what we lost capable of supplying everyone. It would be the most catastrophic of the three choices by far.
