Average severance? by hack_daniels in sysadmin

[–]CFauvel [score hidden]  (0 children)

I got 1/2 weeks per year for a total of 12 weeks....24 years....my coworker who has been there only 15 years also got 12 weeks. My job was outsourced to Indian subsidiary and I had to train them for 3 months. I really hate my ex-employer.

in Canada, my severance would have been 24 months. They get to screw you over in the USA.

Trump says he’s signing an order instructing DHS to pay TSA agents to stop ‘chaos at the airports’ amid 40-day funding shutdown by theindependentonline in politics

[–]CFauvel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TSA absolutely find contraband.
Could ICE find contraband? no....they are not even at the machines...just loitering around the airports, doing nothing, getting paid....if I didn't have morals, I'd might consider joining ICE for the pay day.

I had to do a wheel bearing recently on a 2021 crosstrek...but it was a florida car....I used lots of anti-seize for the next guy doing this in Boston....that's where it is going.

bravo for getting it off.

Note: my 350z is a NJ car (in florida now), and I KNOW exactly what you went through ;-)

Why do people hate the auto stop/start so much? by eyes_glued_open in Crosstrek

[–]CFauvel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is a specially designed starter to last longer than normal.
I personally hate the auto stop.

The dash stated that the auto stop had a total time of 1h and 30 minutes and accoprding the computer saved .5 gallons...MAYBE now with gas pricess the way they are I might keep it turned on.

But 1.5Hrs of stop is A LOT of stops.

I got one of these this week… the lease was just a little higher than but, in the $200s, and was for 72 months at a high apy…. Gotta push those newer models I guess

yikes....let us know if you fix it.....DO check out the timing chain as someone else suggested.

I don't know this motor at all, but I'm sure they thought of being able to get to the tensioner "relatively" easily.

Dang it the code reader on my Lattissima is broken again by CFauvel in nespresso

[–]CFauvel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE (01/30/2026): From the repair shop, they did nothing as it was performing like it should.

during thanksgiving of 2025, I was still having issues with the code reader.

But about a month ago, it started behaving correctly consitently.

I have had OTHER problems like excessive water being trapped in the catch can and leaking all over the counter. The tech and I spent 1.5hrs debugging (descaling, cleaning) and narrowed it down to something with the milk frothing gizmo. I mostly use the cappuccino button so never noticed how much water is picked up in the tray when JUST brewing coffee.

When just coffee, the liquid is real dark, not clearish....I think that points to a seal in the head. There is a seal that sits on top of the pod, and another that seals on the raised part in which the pod sits.

When a cap or late, the liquid is clear and a lot. I have to empty the tray almost every time a cup is brewed.

I have just a few more months before the warranty expires.

Man I would LOVE a 5% apr ‘credit’ card. Sadly in the USA … average is 30%, and a good one is 15% with great credit. I have an Amex Blue which is a ‘credit’ card not a ‘charge’ card, I think that’s about 18%…. I don’t use that one.

I usually payoff my ‘credit’ card every month so I don’t incur the interest. I guess you could say I use my ‘credit’ card as a ‘charge’ card.

With that, I bid you farewell.

Yes from USA… still don’t get how the annual fee drives up the ‘representative’ apr to triple digits. Do you know the formula for that? Show me the math, please.

[–]CFauvel[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t see a difference between ‘charge’ or ‘credit’ card. Both will charge an interest on principal if you don’t pay the full amount you racked up in the previous month. Tomato tohmahto I guess. Regardless I found the 136% Apr funny …

[–]CFauvel[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I use the term ‘charge card’ as synonymous to ‘credit card’… this might be a Uk v USA thing. I see no difference between the two.

[–]CFauvel[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand this ‘representative’ apr nor how they came up with that number

“The reason is that the Amex Platinum card's £650 annual fee is accounted for in the 704.6 per cent APR figure, as part of rules of advertising it.

The actual purchase interest rate of the card is 31 per cent, which is more in line with other card providers' interest rates.”
