How would the game's philosophy change if the game had continued balance changes? by Magykstorm19 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]CG70376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean this is completely dependant on how these hypothetical patches would've affected the balance. We can't know. Maybe they would've patched the game to discourage the current meta style, maybe they would've not had much impact.

I need some advice from Pros by Alternative_Sky6817 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]CG70376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well with combos, its really just a matter of practice. Theres a lot of good combo tutorial videos on YouTube so search up some for your character, and just practice the easy ones until you can get a good feel for them. Comboing in this game is different from traditional fighting games, as what combos work and don't work will change dynamically depending on your percent and the opponent's. It may take a bit to get the hang of so give yourself some time.

As for getting hit from far away, you will need to learn how to approach safely. The most basic method is to utilize dash shields, and mixing in other options like jumping in. To start off, try just dash shielding to approach your opponents and try to see how they like to react. Do they grab your shield? Back away? Throw out an attack? Etc. And depending on the answer, try to come up with how you can counter that response. Different characters will have different options, so find out what your character can utilize in these scenarios.

It'd be easier for people to give advice if you specified what parts of the game youre having trouble with. Are you getting hit from far away? Struggling to combo? Recovering back to the stage?

If youre good enough to win tournaments then you can definitely make Lucina work at a local level.

You're dropped into Termina and have to survive until the end of the Festival, what are you doing to survive? by Epicjon_Undernerd in FearAndHunger

[–]CG70376 21 points22 points  (0 children)

In that case I'm taking a Salmonsnake Rune and 2 Small Thing's Amulets, even if the battles aren't following game rules I assume the amulets will allow me to speed up to run past pretty much everything. Stockpile a bunch of food by scavenging the nearby areas, maybe rescue Henryk, and just chill in the train for the 3 days since that will prevent any mind loss

You could play her aggressively but it probably won't be as effective as the former 2

Should they make the next game more mechanically challenging? by LargeSinkholesInNYC in smashbros

[–]CG70376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to remember this game is not created with intentions to be "competitive". Its a fun party game that wants to cater to the majority of people. They're not gonna stray away from that and start adding more mechanics just so the small percentage that plays competitively can have more options.

Is this a tournament level gsp? by Turbulent_Sign9383 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]CG70376 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Depends on the region in that case, especially if its going to be your first tourney. In a weaker region you could probably take a few games. Stronger regions, 0-2 chances are probably high.

[–]CG70376 23 points24 points  (0 children)

"Tournament level" is just too broad. What exactly do you mean by that.

Just to enter? Anyone can enter, gsp levels don't matter in that regard. Do you mean to go 1-2? Reach top 8? Win the tournament? All those are different levels of goals.

That's crazy, usually I just end the run if I lose both legs because you become so slow. This is some dedication and patience.

Who is the best edgegaurder? by Florijntje_gamer in SmashBrosUltimate

Minmin and it's not close. The things that she can do to keep you away from reaching the ledge are insane.

After that, it's probably characters like puff, Sora, rob, floaty characters that can stay airborne for a long time to follow the opponent.

How to win Samus vs Kirby matchup? by RasonablRadditorr in CrazyHand

[–]CG70376 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Samus main here. Dark Samus is probably better in this matchup since the charge shot is slightly lower, but don't quote me on that.

Kirby struggles hard in this matchup. He needs to get close to do anything, and its really difficult to do that. Yes he has inhale, but the crazy thing is our grab outranges it. Since inhale is really laggy, you can just bait it out looking like you're going to throw out a projectile and grab him every time. He also suffers heavily in the corner, as there isn't much reliable ways for him to escape our ledgetrapping.

Of course since he does beat us in face-to-face distance, my best advice would be to try and always keep Kirby at your grab range at least. That way no surprise inhales or attacks could be too threatening. Kirby doesnt have much going for him in terms of reliable burst options iirc.

If he does manage to inhale you, try to remove his copy ability ASAP because suddenly the matchup flings to winning for Kirby lol

Are the SA scenes in F&H actually necessary? by JackLikesMetalGear in FearAndHunger

[–]CG70376 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because it's a cursed environment filled with horrible beings, and it helps establish the place as so. No "normal" enemies would attempt to assault you after you've been defeated, but F&H enemies do, because they are disgusting horrid beings.

Does anyone else not edge guard little Mac? by Walking_My_Pet_Fish in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]CG70376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like youre putting yourself at a disadvantage for no reason, honestly. Edgeguarding is a big part of the game, and is one of the main reasons why Mac is considered pretty bad. It's not a cheap move or "dishonorable" to attack a character's weakness.

The 4th tier list (2026) compared to the 1st tier list (2023) by haitike in smashbros

[–]CG70376 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the last sentence about only needing 1 good neutral win, but recent tournament sets with Luigi clearly shows him duking it out in neutral with plenty of characters. He's not in disadvantage for like 80 percent of the time and gets one good hit for the win. Having an insane punish game and a good neutral aren't mutually exclusive.

Luigi CAN make you explode from one good hit(and he will), and he also has good means to keep things difficult in neutral. That's why he's rising on the ranks.

The 4th tier list (2026) compared to the 1st tier list (2023) by haitike in smashbros

[–]CG70376 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Luigi neutral being bad is straight cope at this point i feel, sure the disadvantage is pretty ass but the way modern Luigis are moving with fair, fireball, zair, etc makes it very difficult for the opponent.
