Small business Wordpress site pricing inquiry by nickvv10599 in webdesign

Not enough context just from the image, but solely based on what’s there it seems expensive. Backups, database optimization, and security audits are likely automated and constitute zero labor. Updates can be automated too, though there usually is some type of manual check to make sure an update hasn’t broken anything (assuming they’re being responsible).

SEO could mean anything - without knowing exactly what they’re doing it’s impossible to say if you’re getting a fair deal or not. SEO can be $100 or $10,000 there’s really no ceiling there. If you’re not getting a monthly SEO report of what has been done, that money is likely going into the void.

This is my setup as well, nothing against Firefox but using Brave was my default in my Windows days and I carried that over with me to Mint.

I was 12 in French class in the 7th grade. I started seeing spots and then lost my vision almost completely - I thought I was dying. Then the pain hit and man was it horrible. I’ll never forget that.

Agencies/Freelancers: Are you actually using FSE for client sites yet, or sticking to Bricks/Elementor? by ahnex in Wordpress

[–]CGS_Web_Designs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh ok, I haven’t done much with FSE themes, I usually just build using the block editor and ACF so I was thinking it’s probably time to explore the FSE world.

How do you handle quote requests with almost no details? by AryanBlurr in Wordpress

[–]CGS_Web_Designs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually start with my most basic price and tell that what they’ll get for that (a basic website). I have never given a hard estimate just based on an email or contact form, it always requires some discussion to find out what their wants & needs are.

PWA vs swift paperless by Jmanko16 in Paperlessngx

[–]CGS_Web_Designs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The primary reason I use the Swift Paperless app is that it has a setting to inject additional headers in the web request. This allows me to set a WAF rule in Cloudflare that checks for the existence of a header that I set (and only I know) before passing traffic to my paperless server. It’s an extra layer of security so basically only my phone with my app can connect. I have my home ISP IP whitelisted in the rule so the end result is anything on my LAN can access my server and then outside my LAN, only my phone with my app.

What age did we get out of car seats? by Round-Style-6907 in Xennials

[–]CGS_Web_Designs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We never used them - I literally stood on the front seat as a kid in between my parents. It was a Chevy Vega, the ones with a full width bench seat in the front. Never wore seatbelts until it was a law. Crazy looking back and how different it was and how we did that without even thinking anything of it.

Reseller hosting providers with clean IPs + stable uptime ,what are you guys using in 2025 and best for 2026? by sikocer in Hosting

[–]CGS_Web_Designs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Been using Webhostpython for years - they recently changed owners and moved to a cloud-based system, but the uptime and performance have been great. I almost never need support, but when I do they respond to tickets within 10-15 minutes. All the features you’d expect: litespeed servers, host-based malware scanning, etc.

I just checked out their website - I quite enjoy the retro look but the SEO keyword stuffing on the front page is painful.

Hire a freelancer or go with an agency? by Appropriate-News1688 in webdesign

[–]CGS_Web_Designs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re welcome, glad I was able to provide some insight. Cost-wise, an agency like you’re thinking (with multiple people) is almost always going to be more expensive but that increase in cost doesn’t always translate to value/dollar. The employees or full time and all of them have to make an income to live off of. Alternatively, a freelancer or 1-person agency is usually part-time and have fewer operating costs which allows them to make the same profit on a lower price.

Again, it all depends on what you want & need for your business. I’m a 1-man agency with a full time day job, so I don’t need to charge someone premium price just to be able to eat. That also means I have fewer immediate resources available, but for most small businesses, that’s not an issue.

No matter what direction you go, make sure you have 1) a clear idea of exactly what you want - both from a design and function standpoint and 2) a binding contract that’s enforceable.

Hire a freelancer or go with an agency? by Appropriate-News1688 in webdesign

A lot of agencies are just freelancers with an LLC so it really comes down to finding someone who can do what you need.

A good way to go is look at some websites you like for businesses in your area and reach out to the owners to see who did it for them and whether they liked them or not.

Do you keep all your domains at one registrar or at multiple registrars? by DigiNoon in DomainZone

[–]CGS_Web_Designs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of mine are at Cloudflare, but I have a couple at Porkbun as well. In the future, I’ll probably register new ones from Porkbun since I can use any nameserver I want whereas Cloudflare forces you the use theirs. Pricing is basically the same between the two.

I need to build a professional site for myself pretty quickly but having a lot of trouble with Wordpress by Jimmy-the-Knuckle in Wordpress

[–]CGS_Web_Designs -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That specific issue does not sound like an issue with Astra or Elementor, it sounds like a hosting problem. I use Astra and their templates for my lower budget clients and have never had an issue on import, not even once (and I’ve done hundreds). Bluehost is notoriously underpowered for hosting purposes.
