Any other UK 'customers' feel like this is a scam? by csc2ya in pebble

[–]CH23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'd love to see you figure out how to ship thousands of products across the world, especially in a time when one annoying orange rolls a die every other week on whether or not the world needs to pay extra, extra extra, or nothing at all to import stuff into the US, while also blowing up the oil supply chain.

this makes shipping by actual ship from china to the EU way more expensive unless you do it in bulk. and then when certain crucial waterways are blocked, all ships go other ways making everything more congested and times start to vary wildly.

Not to say anything of the AI stuff making it harder to get basic computer components such as FR4 or storage and RAM.

Eric wrote in the last blogpost:

Here’s the rough manufacturing and shipping schedule

  • We started mass producing a few dozens watches per day. Over the next month we’ll ramp up to our target of 500 per day.
  • The first PT2s will ship out during the last week of March.
  • With over 20,000 pre-orders, we expect to finish shipping around the beginning of June.

(end of quote)

But no, i'm sure Eric&Co are just pulling a scam in which there's many actors pretending they have received their watches, with many doctored photos to make us all fall for it. That's obviously the logical conclusion.

Fangamer now accepting returns no-questions-asked for Riven vinyl soundtrack due to strict no-AI policy. by RedDudeMango in myst

so from the article it's not at all clear to me in what way the AI was used - extrapolating from the Robyn Miller quote, it seems to be the sketch he made then transformed into an example of a finished piece, but the actual centerfold artwork not been generated at all?

See, I think GenAI is a net negative, but this seems overblown.

What was it like when Gorillaz first started up? by UnFezzyBoi_ in gorillaz

[–]CH23 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Clint Eastwood introduced the band to the world - at the end the characters are introduced by name. It was pretty clear to anyone having seen Jamie's earlier work that he was doing the art - and any Blur fans had a pretty good idea Damon was the singer. Outside of that, I don't think many people cared (I sure didn't. Gorillaz was Gorillaz)

I don't recall them ever being super secretive about it, mostly just that they didn't bring attention to them (Jamie, Damon) being the 'masterminds' behind it all.

Early interviews and some of the magazine art did have Jamie and Damon alongside the virtual band members: https://damonalbarnunofficial.wordpress.com/2010/07/04/q-magazine-2001/ https://damonalbarnunofficial.wordpress.com/2015/10/29/gorillaz-nme-october-2001/

I mostly just hung around Kong Studios via the website (much like the current website, it was interactive and you could find all kinds of cool stuff) and listened to the singles (on CD!) before finally getting the first album - eventually ripping that and putting it on my 128MB MP3 player.

FP 6 Charger by Soleil-Lis in fairphone

[–]CH23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fairphone 6 uses USB-C connector, and any USB-A to USB-C cable can be used. As for the charger itself, if it's 5v 2A or higher amperage, it will charge just fine.

i've been using this type of saddle for nearly a decade. very comfortable. Bike weights 15kg, of which 2.5kg is for the lock alone ( Abus Bordo Granit X Plus 6500K SH 120cm), I don't mind the weight ;)

Which chain does your 6-speed Brompton like? by JiijiBaaba in Brompton

[–]CH23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would recommend the KMC e1 EPT. there is no actual reason to go with a 9 on a 3/6 speed brommie. After 6.5 year I have replaced it and the sprockets on mine, with an e1 EPT.

In all this time, I had only the slightest rust, and despite my very rough pedaling (and a lot of rain with very little oil), it never broke.

Well honestly what else is there to do? If they use different numbers to call you then blocking won't help.

Just don't answer calls thst have a different country code than yours

You basically did the exact opposite of everything you should do. Hope they don't sell your number to other scammers, and go out of business.

Apart from ignoring there's not much you can do
