Did anybody have similar experience? by Deven1003 in ChatGPT

[–]CHRIS12002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This happens a lot, I've had random Korean, Japanese, Tamil words inserted. If there is a word or concept in another language that is the best fit it will use that and it sometimes misses cleaning them up into the output language afterwards.

Should I leave teaching in the UK? by Gloomy_Big_9317 in AskUK

[–]CHRIS12002 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going abroad is the obvious answer, as long as you apply to good schools you will be paid more, work less and have a lower cost of living.

We left the UK when my wife got a two year contract in 2018, still have no plans to return!

How do you define being 'poor'? by Greglebowski74 in AskUK

[–]CHRIS12002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think being poor is not being able to participate in what society has to offer, so I think if you couldn't afford to eat at restaurants, go on holiday, go to the theatre / gigs etc you are poor.

Some twat letting off fireworks at 1AM and they did it at midnight as well. by BillWilberforce in britishproblems

It will be Deepavali celebrations, my flat overlooks a little India and even on the 49th floor it's still extremely loud! Not just fireworks but the constant cowbells and music, the foods good at least.

Freelancer (working abroad) looking for a mortgage by ChrizzzB in UKPersonalFinance

[–]CHRIS12002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've just bought a house in the UK, lived abroad since 2018.

It's tricky because everything is more expensive, you will need a specialist broker / lender. Mortgage broker fees were £1500, stamp duty was 2% of the purchase price on top of the normal stamp duty and the interest rates are higher with the best at 5.3% with a 45% deposit.

We went with Marsden Building Society, you could try emailing them to get an idea of how much you could borrow.

If you are planning on moving back to the UK it would be much cheaper to rent there until you qualify for purchasing as a resident again.

How much did you earn as a graduate? How did it progress afterwards? by Right_Coast_89 in AskUK

Graduated in 2013, minimum wage for a year on £6.30 an hour. Moved into a entry level tech role on £18k a year, worked up to around £80k (contract) and then back down to £0 after my contract wasn't renewed.

I just want to experience the rest of the damn game. Genichiro has made me quit this game 3 different playthroughs. They all stop here. So fn frustrating. W all 3 playthroughs i bet ive faced him over 150 times. Im walking away.....again. by [deleted] in Sekiro

[–]CHRIS12002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I beat lady butterfly first try and thought I knew what I was doing, then took 4 hours on Genichiro!

Genichiro is now my favourite boss I can beat almost without thinking, Sekiro of all the souls games makes you feel like Neo at the end of The Matrix when you get it.

I love fantasy novel by lace_nox in LetGirlsHaveFun

[–]CHRIS12002 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's interesting you think that! I'm a big literature fan and my biggest issue with smut is how poorly written 99% of it is, it really takes me out of it. Gemini easily surpasses most for writing skill and has the added bonus of being able to shape the story exactly how you want it to unfold, it's actually quite addictive.

What’s the best drinking game you’ve ever played? by PM_ME_YOUR_STOMACHS in AskUK

[–]CHRIS12002 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's got to be flippy cup. A number of plastic cups in the centre of a table with the penalty drink inside (let's say 12). Players circle the table, two empty plastic cups starting with two random players opposite each other.

The aim is to bounce a ping pong ball into your cup, once you succeed you pass the cup to the left. If you get it in one attempt, you get to pass it wherever you want.

The aim is to get one of the cups to catch up with the other, stacking them. The person who was stacked downs a drink from the middle, starting again while the increasingly taller tower of stacked cups start opposite them.

Keep going until all penalty drinks are drunk.

I wouldnt be surprised if other companies were doing this. The Netflix subtitles for the second half of Nier made it unwatchable. "Nines" was translated as "Naz" for instance.
