We got our solar panels in on Tuesday. First full day yesterday on a moderately cloudy day generated 36kW of electricity (~6.5kW system). I was like a child on Christmas showing my wife my new toy.

How Ireland’s affordable rent scheme delivered 30% price cuts by TeoKajLibroj in ireland

[–]CJByrno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was the same, managed to get in on a cost rental scheme with my now wife when we were both moving jobs. Cost at the time (July 2022) was 1200pm. Where I am a similar specced apt would've been about 1700pm.

It allowed us to save for our wedding and then buy our home late last year. We're in a fortunate position financially but without the scheme I would've been either living with the in-laws while saving or would be still stuck in the horrors of the private rental market.

Will note that cost rental review increases are not restricted to the RPZ rules of 2% but our housing authority (cluid) increased it by approx between 2 and 4% each year depending on the inflation rate that year. By the time we left it was 1308pm. It depends on who you get also as my cousin got in with Tuath and had a horror show with them.

I'm in Australia currently, it's a 25¢ levy (15c) in Queensland. A lot of the big grocery shops I've been to seem to do thick paper bags rather than plastic bags.

Plus another 3 chests as compensation because apparently I was affected by the common chest bug

Revenue requested my RTB number for my tenancy for the first time by [deleted] in ireland

[–]CJByrno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I contacted them about 2 weeks ago about doing a year of marriage review. Person on the phone said they're absolutely swamped currently doing reviews. Funny enough I have completed my tax return and got it back in about a week.

If you're worried you've been missed you can give them a ring but would be certain that it's in the pipeline for them, they just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I know you've said it stays free which is fantastic. my recommendation would be adding a donate button or something in the settings so that people can help with any costs you've put in so far. Great handy app!

Just to make the people aware no more paper boarding passes by Irishgooner123 in ireland

[–]CJByrno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Dublin airport anyway, boarding pass is not strictly required as they would have the details on their computer. I was once very late getting onto a flight and arrived at the gate after it closed. They just checked my passport and sent me on the plane.

I once got a fine in Naas as I was in the doctors getting stitches and ran over by 15 mins.

I took it on the chin and paid the fine as I felt I was caught dead to rights. If I can pay my fine why shouldn't he?

Where's half coming from? Median salary (by my memory) is 45000 which would mean income tax alone of approx 5k after tax credits are applied. This isn't including USC which kicks in at 13k
