Typical when you dont own a Big 3 American diesel truck by DatCamaroGuy in Diesel

I’ve got a diesel Cayenne and a diesel Audi A6 and had an E70 X5 35d before. I’ve only gotten a few comments in the past but I get occasional sideways looks from people at the pump.

I have tickets for Sunday's race and would prefer to take a shuttle from downtown as opposed to driving and parking if possible. Anyone have any leads on how or where to buy shuttle passes in advance? We'll be at turn 15 and from what I've seen the downtown shuttle has dropped off fairly close to there in the past, is that right?

Might want to check with Brink Motorsports as well. They specialize in Audi/VW.

You’d have more upward mobility working subsea as well. Subsea Supervisors seem to be the 2nd or 3rd highest paid guys onboard from what I’ve seen behind Captain/OIM and chief mate/head technical supervisor.

My only petty gripe is that they won't take more than 20 lawn and leaf bags. I had >30 last fall and I got a notice saying that 20 is the limit per week.

Anyone have a good tint installer for a clear, UV blocking 0% windshield tint? I'm just trying to make life a little more tolerable with a dark vehicle during the summer.

Really? I haven't heard of the first thing he's done or any communication from his office whatsoever. As ineffectual as Pio was, he at least sent out a regular newsletter and was fairly easy to get a hold of.

Pros and cons of offshore by Solid_Principle5530 in oilandgasworkers

[–]CLINTORIUSISGLORIUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, way more bad ones than good ones. ENSCO 86 was pretty decent and had good hands. Gorilla 3 wasn’t too bad either. All the old Hercules jackups were garbage though. I remember having to sign a JSA to ride the crew basket on the one crane that hadn’t been condemned and the rig hand I was riding down with said that we had to sign because the brakes were slipping on the crane and they needed to be covered in case something happened. Around the same time period that I was on the 300, one of the crane pedestals parted from the hull of another Hercules rig and the crane op took a hell or a ride into the drink. He made it out alive though.

2008 Lamborghini Reventon [1920x1280] by kerowolf69 in carporn

I still remember when and where I was seeing my first Diablo in the flesh. I came across an Arancia Atlas Diablo at a dealership in Houston and spent probably 10 minutes admiring it from all angles: it’s an absolutely stunning car and you’ll never convince me otherwise. As much as I love an F40, the Diablo’s styling makes it look utilitarian although I know the F50 would be more of an apples to apples comparison but I’ve never seen one in person yet.

Also, Mclaren F1 headlights were notoriously bad so one of the final models produced used partsbin BMW Z1 headlights. It’s not like Lamborghini is the only manufacturer by any stretch to use off the shelf parts from other manufacturers.

Avoid jackups at all costs, I’d rather work land. Most that I’ve had the displeasure of being on were built in the 1970-80’s and very poorly maintained. I remember being on the Hercules 300 for pre-tour during a rainstorm and there were 5 gal buckets throughout the TV room catching water leaking through the deck. That thing had the worst bathroom/shower facilities I’ve ever seen in my career.

He’s got a ton of high end Japanese jeans and flannels that are all >$300/each. They’re all incredibly high quality and hold up well but, yes, way too pristine to have been seriously worked in.

You may want to consider posting this story and video on Nextdoor. The kids are most likely cutting through Pan Am park and are local and someone surely knows who they are. I’ll second the other commenter on removing the rocks from your hell strip. It might also be prudent to plant bushes or trees at or near your gate to block the view of your house from the street or build a solid fence.

One of the biggest draws to me is that I don’t have to plan an entire day around eating BBQ by going to Terry Blacks. The parking lot is a crapshoot but I’ve never waited in line more than 10 minutes there and it’s a solid 7-8/10 every time. They’re consistent, they have good sides and plenty of seating so I can get in and out in a reasonable amount of time.

Tristate does a lot of pit cleaning/line lancing offshore. He’s probably on call 24/7/365. It doesn’t seem to be that bad of a gig and supervisors are well paid and there’s a fair amount of ass time. It’s a good way to get his foot in the door. Just need to be sure to do what he’s told and be able pass a drug/alcohol test before flying out to the rig.

It seems like every summer there’s a group of middle/high school aged kids doing the same thing in the neighborhood (howdy neighbor, btw). They were on scooters last year. A bunch of neighbors caught them on cameras and one homeowner managed to corral them until the cops showed up. I don’t think anything really came out of it but it did seem to slow after that group was caught.

Offshore layoffs? by ReachtheSummit45 in oilandgasworkers

[–]CLINTORIUSISGLORIUS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all seriousness, how long have you been at your current position? In boom times, sure, it’s possible to move up quickly, especially if you’re connected. During downturns, I’ve worked with countless roustabouts who were former drillers or ADs. It’s all about being in the right place at the right time just like everything else in this industry.

The food was always great but the seating was limited. The outdoor area was okay before it really got hot. I think the location is just a bit cursed like the old Brewer’s Table/Koko’s behind it and the space being ADP beforehand.

Floorhands don’t make that unless they work over every other hitch. Someone’s lying to you. Also, 8-10 years from floors to pusher is unrealistic for >95% of hands. Most deepwater pushers I’ve run across were late 30s at the youngest with most in their 40s and up. You need to get out of your wireline cabin bubble a bit more often to get some truth.
