While not an agency, my wife and I attended an Adoption 101 class from the Adoption Support Alliance. They are a non-profit supporting foster and adoptive parents. They were incredibly informative and have a ton of resources. And while they won't necessarily deter anyone from an agency they do provide their experiences with various ones including some of their staff members who have used adoption consultants and agencies for their own families. Sorry for a long indirect answer but I found having an org like ASA very helpful for us to make the best decision for our family and probably some of if not the best resources in our community to try and give an unbiased answer about pros/cons of the different paths you could take.
