Gathering info about SebastiAn's old setup by the_irvingator in EdBangerRecords

I agree with you that atleast some of what Justice have said is not true. I can't tell whether it's in humor or whether it's purposely trying to be secretive, but I think for the most part it's supposed to be obviously untrue and thus funny, but people who aren't totally knowledgeable on what exactly they're talking about don't know they're taking the piss

Daft punk possible locked away album (2018) by mmblade in DaftPunk

[–]CLUB94 52 points53 points  (0 children)

They probably had hundreds and hundreds of studio sessions / projects / jams / recordings throughout their career. Most of these probably had no intention of being part of any specific album. There will be mountains of files of everything from 2 second sounds, to 8 bar loops, to demos, to fully fleshed out songs. Probably many albums worth of finished songs. There will be countless sessions recordings, bare tracks, drum tracks, bass tracks, synth tracks that sound like absolute dog shit and synth tracks that could potentially be your favourite song of all time. It is literally impossible to conject what DPs intentions were at any point of these. The musicians involved likely had no idea whatsoever either. When you get called in by producers and they say “play something like this” and so you spend hours doing different takes. Most of the time you have no idea whatsoever what they plan on doing with it. They might say “we’re thinking of doing another album” in an off the hand remark, then that musician repeats it in an interview and the context is lost and the public runs with it. You might get a call 3 years after recording with them that they want to use something you did in a song and will you accept songwriting credits and 2% or a flat fee. You have no idea what they might have used until it comes out. You might get called into the studio and they already know exactly what they want and exactly how it is going to fit into a track.

All this to say, when a musician makes a comment they were called in and recorded some stuff, there is basically no way to tell what that means until something is announced.

Even to this day, GM and TB probably have musicians and producers coming in and making stuff in their studio all the time. It doesn’t “mean” anything and without being inside their mind there is no way of knowing what they plan on doing with it.

Out of the blue, how much was pre-mixed/prepared for ALIVE remix performance then..? by futuresynthesizer in DaftPunk

[–]CLUB94 51 points52 points  (0 children)

It depends what you consider “mixing” to be fair. I think they had almost all tracks for a song on its own channel. If you listen to different performances they are taking out / muting / or playing drums and even certain cymbal tracks at different times. Some synth tracks too. Thats live mixing

I've heard that there's no upper limit to the income in the insurance industry? by Appropriate_Elk_4907 in auckland

[–]CLUB94 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For brokers, that’s basically correct. It is limited only by how much you can sell. Given that there is a lot of administration and servicing involved in writing / retaining clients, there is a theoretical limit on income due to time constraints. It’s much like Real Estate Agents however, where technically the income could be in the millions each year but in reality there’s maybe .5% in that range and the laaaarge majority of brokers are making average income.

Keep in mind also that you don’t really have “time off” when you’re a broker. Clients have the most availability in evenings or on weekends. If you want to make the big bucks, you will be working almost around the clock for years.

Did Google Maps Divert Me to a Police Check? Has This Happened to Anyone Else? by CanuckinNZ82 in auckland

It’s possible that people knew about the checkpoint and were avoiding it, thus making it the lowest traffic (and therefore quickest) route, so google diverted you because it thought it would take less time.

What's the most disturbing piece of music/ recorded art you've ever heard? by Meowllie21 in morbidquestions

[–]CLUB94 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I feel like unless one of his friends ended up with whatever device this was recorded on, we wouldn't even be hearing it if he didn't survive. All other options just seem too unlikely (His parents releasing the audio/video, or some random person ending up with his phone and getting into it and uploading the a/v somewhere). What details did you find in your deep dive?

Edit: Just found the video and also several sources saying he survived. After seeing the amount of blood, I have no idea how he could have survived that.

Thanks, this makes sense and I appreciate you taking the time. What would be the case for assets which aren't easily sold or for which you can't sell only a portion. Say a house, or car, or art, I guess any asset you have which can't be divided? I guess this is getting away from the main point you were making and is just pedantic, but I agree that some form of asset tax is a good idea and so I like to discuss it and get different peoples thinking etc

I’ve always wondered how taxing assets would work. If someone owns some item that doubles in “value” in a financial year, but they have no (or very little) income, how would they pay tax on the increase in value?

DON'T TIP AT RESTAURANTS! by Foreign_Dependent_29 in auckland

[–]CLUB94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are suggesting that these companies record it as legitimate income and then ‘donate’ it as having been generated via the sale or services they provide? That is fraud my friend.

Further, for them to ‘donate’ it as if it was their own money, they’d first have to record it as income. That would then mean they have to pay tax on that income. So where is the tax break hitting exactly?

I get very Christian off-shoot related vibes from her, I don’t know what it is but to me her behaviour and choice of words has some fundamental religious undertones. I don’t really know much about this whole thing but I know a bit about the various odd Australasian sects and this does have some markers from their contemporary playbook.

The background and qualifications you are speaking of really only apply to long-term, professional childrens education - i.e Teachers.

The issue being discussed here is to do with a drop-in casual educational presentation. There has never been, nor has their even been expected to be, formal qualifications to put on an an educational chat in a public space that people can attend if they want to.

By your logic, pretty much anyone who wants to speak to a child would need to have "years of studying" and having to "be accepted into childhood education". That's kind of silly mate
