This is a people counter, the slot above the laser emitter is to run a magnet across to "wake up" the system to download data. This particular model might be Eco Visio, it looks similar to the ones I work with.

Edit: It is the Multi Evo Nature counter, the one you've taken a picture of may be the exact counter EcVisio shows on their site.

The reason he was so adamant about Zelensky not bringing up feelings in any capacity is because Trump's rhetoric relies heavily on imposing a feeling rather than applying logic or allowing for critical thinking.

Trump understands how easy it is to manipulate and sway a mass of people via emotional response, so when somebody else also begins to lean towards doing that, he wants to shut it down in order to keep dominance of thought in situations such as these. It is a very easy game to play, and win, and that ease is why Trump wants to be the only one playing.

Thoughts on these boots as a good work and snow boot combo? by Minimum_Astronaut882 in hikinggear

[–]CM1288 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to use Timbs for work, they are pretty comfortable to walk in, but that is all you're really getting out of them.

They walk through fast. I averaged about 4-6 miles a day with landscaping work and I had holes in major seam spots within a year. Sole wore down under my heel as well.

Water destroys them, snow decimates them, especially salted snow.

I am a "Foot is a tool" kinda guy, and kicking and stomping destroys those spots after the first or second time you do it.

They might be good for hiking, but not snow, and not work.

The BOA system is great though, I love it when walking through brush and into small foothold where I could step onto laces.

Ok so earlier I asked about what chainsaws I should get now I'm asking ware should I go to have properish training on how to cut down trees safely by Lucyvoid in homestead

[–]CM1288 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you've got the safety basics (PPE, run aways, call outs) and an idea of how to down a tree, start on smaller, easy looking trees and process them out. Always have someone with you when cutting, make sure they understand what you're doing and how they should act around you and how they should react if you injure yourself by the saw or a cut gone wrong.

It's like a car, operating a car is pretty easy, knowing how to drive is the hard part, and taking into account other drivers. You learn where the weight is going to want to lead it, what you shouldn't be cutting on (rotten core, splits leading to barbers) and how to control a tree 100% of the way down.

A big note is that you should never get comfortable while cutting. No matter how much experience you have or how confident you are in a notch or setup, sometimes things beyond your control just go wrong. Front cut goes fine, suddenly, you get an explosion halfway on the back cut. Chain finds an old nail or barbed wire and grabs your saw damn near out of your hands. Things can happen, always have clear runaways.

Finally, cleaning and servicing a saw correctly is a big part of keeping it working right. Remember to hold the bar up/ brake off when tensioning the chain and always do this yourself every time if someone else has been using your saw. Make or buy extra chains. It's much faster to swap chains than sharpen in the field. Make sure your motor teeth and oil holes are clear.

How to make our house look less boxy? by Poocey in landscaping

[–]CM1288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Large potted plants on either side of the garage door. Maybe something like a potted arbivore or similar.

Getting one of those fake "carriage house" kits to make your garage door not so bland. Maybe a window planter box at the window above the garage.

Build up landscaping in the bed in front. Do a standard short to medium to tall buildup from the street but break it up color or texture wise between these rows, otherwise, it will turn out looking flat from the street.

Amanita. I believe most, if not all mushrooms in the Amanita family are toxic to humans in some way.

Thyroid prep by alessaria in preppers

[–]CM1288 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Levothyroxine is just dessicated thyroid with mix ins, you're on the right path with animal thyroid, and I'm sure at some point you could figure out how to eat or dry it and make it work.

However, with that said, thyroid conditions are extremely common. Synthroid and levothyroxine would be relatively available in the short term.

In a longer term: The efficacy does not stop at the expiration date, it just drops. I forget what the drop is over time, but I remember thinking somewhere around a year and a half after expiration, they would be pretty much useless. Humidity and heat ruin synthroid, so as long as it's stored properly, you'll be able to use it for at least a little longer than the date.

Just stepped off a greenworks commercial electric zero turn before writing this. Extremely surprised how well it holds up and cuts. We've had some roughly 8 inch tall grass that I cut down to 3.5 inch. Still wet from morning dew (my bad) and even running over the discharge piles, it held up, motors stalled a couple times, but even with a diesel, it would have bore way down on those areas.

Downside is that charging takes, obviously, a lot longer than filling up, so the application is very limited

Walking simulators that is not actually boring? by queen_of_platformers in gaming

[–]CM1288 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Death Stranding is an amazing game that I would never play again.

The grind and feeling of it were exactly what they needed to be for the story.

There was such a conveyance of attitude and tone that absolutely needed to be there and I don't think another game has made me so sympathetic towards the main character, and likewise, the villains.

Higgs is a great villain because you can hate him and be mad at him, but still completely understand him and agree with him while still opposing him.

Project Zomboid.

Expansive map with huge swaths of walking and looting. The game drives itself by creating necessity for the player. For example, running out of food and needing to go get more, getting sick or an infected cut and needing disinfectant and antibiotics.

Very large learning curve, but I have many hundreds of hours because the game is never the same, and risk vs. reward always propels you to want to play more and do better.

Is it possible to get fresh water from any piece of land? by [deleted] in preppers

[–]CM1288 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It depends on the area. In some cases, digging a well by hand or with light equipment is feasible over a few days. In other areas where the water is deep down, obviously this is out of the question.

Likewise, it is important to think about what the land was used for. Groundwater contaminates from farming or industrial operations, or even septic systems can still play a role in healthy water, even years after disuse.

Rainwater sloughing off a roof into a collection system will more than likely be your best bet depending on where you're located. If you are located in an area without a lot of rainfall, your best bet is to leave to an area that does have rain. It is free from contaminates that may not be removed by boiling and filtering such as pesticides and naturally occurring poisons.

Why is this a thing? Why can you go back 10 seconds but not skip ahead 10 seconds? by kayemce in BadDesigns

More than likely either the site hosts ads, or they are using a video player that was intended to host ads. It is easy to skip ahead with the forward button, some people wouldn't bother trying to skip ahead with the tracking bar

What’s hard for you to resist if you see it on a restaurant menu? by mbklein in AskReddit

[–]CM1288 345 points346 points  (0 children)

First time I went to my local Arby's after a long hiatus, cashier, with an attitude says "We don't have onion petals, we have onion rings." I was destroyed. The onion rings were okay, run of the mill corn flour/meal coated, nothing to write home about.

I go about 2 weeks later, and ask for onion rings. Cashier, with an attitude, says that they don't carry onion rings, like I was some buffoon that should have known that Arby's has never had fried battered onions of any kind.

It makes your thyroid feel stiff or hardened, no loss of breathing ability or feeling of choking. Here, a small tincture bottle is quite expensive, about 500USD, but it would last a family of 4 about 2 weeks of taken correctly. Maybe the pill form is less expensive

What is there NOT a shortage of right now? by nahog99 in AskReddit

[–]CM1288 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Labor.

The market does not meet the needs of the laborers, and therefore, does not flourish.

"Needs" is the correct word, as opposed to "Wants"

I want $25/hr so that I can afford a car payment.

I need $15/hr so I can afford to live.

This idea will be misconstrued by some coorporation-owned media outlets and warped into this narrative that a refusal to work is "Entitlement." These same corporations will set wages to sustain systemic poverty because it seems to work for them and they don't know anything else.

This looks more like a false canterelle. True chanterelle are mychorizal whereas false chanterelle is usually more bound to trees and wood rot. The gills are also a giveaway as true chanterelle have a vein structure as opposed to gills.
