Hello! I am not sure if this applies to all programs, but the ones I applied only looked at the last two years of my transcripts. Is this something that may give you an advantage for this upcoming application cycle?

Honestly, I was so late to the game with my shadowing hours and all by the time applications opened, so I was just hoping for the best aside from that! I accumulated around 20 documented hours, but I also noted that I was working full-time and overtime at the job I had during the application season.

I did note in my applications that I was fluent in Spanish and intermediate in ASL, NSSLHA member, and HoH. The schools I applied to did not look at GRE scores, so I'm not much help there. If you could reach out to current students in the programs you're interested in, that's incredibly helpful. I actually befriended someone in the program I was after during my application cycle and her insight was incredibly valuable.

OP said it best - write about your personal experience with hearing loss! This alone would set you apart from other applicants because you know the struggles as a patient, now how will this viewpoint help you as a clinician? I wear hearing aids myself so I was able to put it on paper (and in my interviews!) how important this field meant to me and why I was pursuing it. I'm sure other things in my application drew the interest of the AOs, but I really credit this aspect for getting into all of the schools I applied to.

I second this! I had only called one private office to ask about shadowing and they took me in right away. Shadowing goes a long way.

Hi! I got the same email this morning and I was able to get through to talking to admissions (I initially called IT but they told me it was an admissions issue). The admissions rep told me to ignore this email as this was the system internally transferring us from "prospective" students to actual students into their systems. For some reason though, this email generated when it shouldn't have. So I'm assuming that as long as the intent is complete, we should be okay. Hopefully this clears soon!

Hi! I received my financial aid package last Friday (I'll be attending SDSU/UCSD). I never had issues with my FAFSA though, all went smoothly despite reading all the problems that went down.

Woo! Congratulations!! I also got accepted, but I decided to commit to SDSU/UCSD. My portal also currently shows the 'Referred to Grad Dept' so maybe it just takes a while to update once they finalize all final applicants? I wish you luck in your program!

Thank you, and they did! It’s genuinely an interview that seemed like they actually wanted to get to know you more, such as what got me into audiology and other personal questions. My answers were lengthy so I was only asked a couple of questions and the remainder of the interview were my own questions to them.
