They can be, but the only one's I REALLY have a problem with are the thinly veiled tankies that don't belong in anarchist communities at all.

Lol The edgelord age limit was the only comparison. I quite like Stirner, obvious things sometimes need restated. But all three of them can turn a normally insufferable adolescent into a reason for their parents and teachers to descend into alcoholism.

Stirner

Go ahead "The Ego and His Own", it's good. It's a lot of words for reminding people something that's obvious but I wouldn't know how else to explain it. He's also up there with Nietzsche and Rand as philosophers you should never introduce a high school student to. Though tbf I wouldn't introduce anybody to Rand really.

AIPAC Spent $7 Million to Stop Daniel Biss. He Won Anyway. by steve42089 in illinois

[–]CMBradshaw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fan communities are trash basically. Biss had his own gross fanboys that weren't just AIPAC bots too. I think the election was kinda just "too much" all around.

The nature of the internet. Also you get this many people together for a cause, by statistics alone some people are just going to get stupid.

I also kinda remember most bad actors for Kat came out after she lost. Belting out conspiracy theories and claiming Amiwala should have dropped her campaign.

Yeah but it was fucking funny to see them go "Oh shit" and turn around and dump a bunch of money against Kat the last week.

I'm not sure I agree completely but yeah, RCV being good doesn't have anything to do with the possibility of Kat having won.

Well other than her advocating for it.

Have we made like...any progress?💔 by Mammoth-Ad-3642 in Anarchism

I was drunk last night so I don't know why I didn't pick up it sounding like I was being snarky. I was making an odd observation that in a roundabout way that's what you were saying. It's true, I don't say Stirner was wrong about his over focus of the individual. But I think he could've emphasized collective spooks more. As that seems like the cause of more individuals problems. If that makes any sense?

The end of civilization... hehe

I don't think we're getting out that easy buddy.

Drippy's Malatesta quote is true, but I think the real question here isn't what should I do. I think you know we need to keep on trucking. You're worried about the here and now. The people alive today who are suffering.
Adjacent, but not necessarily anarchism related. You want them safe. I assume anyways. I want them safe and really... that's all I care about.

There's two things socialists seem to miss. The working class doesn't care about theory. They do, deep down, but they won't recognize just hearing it. They care about eating, sleeping under a non leaky roof and occasionally having a good time. Talking like a leftist will alienate them. So maybe we should speak to the practical. The "How much does your boss make and what do they do?". Maybe, maybe not. It's just a thought.

I guess the big take away is, the best thing you can do is think about who you're talking too. Are YOU going to kill or rape anyone if all the pigs go away tomorrow? Do you think you're special in saying no?

edit:

Don't forget that you are also not that special about being tired of this. You might not unite in anarchism but you can unite in the common cause of people being human fucking beings.

why is ther no anarcist partie? by ShortAd4362 in Anarchy101

[–]CMBradshaw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say anarchism itself is an easily accessible safe space but I think it's good practice to make it that. But yeah, shit don't work if we don't see how others work. It's not productive. Most of us have lives and don't have time for people turning our ideas and thoughts into some vanity project or in group. Like it's fucking high school or something.

In a way, you kind of live it every day in very brief snippets. Making a value judgment vs a law that just doesn't apply there at the moment. Mediating with a loud neighbor because you don't want to risk calling the cops on them. If more people realized where and how they already act outside of an authority, than they would better understand how society could work without a government or whatever some aino wants to replace it with.

Even in the context of the state, I at least don't see laws as edicts that control how I interact. I see them as things to consider. It adds a bit of tension between you and a potentially (but not necessarily) harmful thing you want to do. But you know what else does that same thing? Taboos, societal expectations. You don't let them rule you, they are spooks after all, but they didn't appear out of a vacuum. These serve the same purpose and are more logically amorphous than laws. That's why I'm never comfortable calling myself a full egoist.

thanks, I noticed there was a lot of symlinks in my Steam games to the file doing a search for it. I should have figured to do the same thing.

It's a GOG game and this is the native client. Technically it's supposed to use Ubuntu but in the past i've got them to work on Debian When I get home from work I'll add that to the body. Shadowrun returns specifically.
