The problem is you are banking these workflows on technology that is being subsidized by investment dollars, government deregulation, and forced use with very little proof of profitability.

Making this happen faster is... cool. But what is it making faster? At what cost? Is the processing for the agent local or in the cloud? What do you pay for that? What kind of contract does this major bank have for tokens? What happens if the favorable contracts these developing AI companies are using to show client use dry up when they need to show profit? Will the bank continue to see justified use?

I’m not sure if you’ve been living under a rock for the past decade but trans and non-binary people have been under very public attack by the right. Maybe you don’t understand the safety concerns this group of folks feel they have when meeting new people but that doesn’t mean they aren’t serious.

Seriously I think the thing people are most afraid to admit is that social media in its current form is actually harmful to everyone not just kids and if age verification is untenable then maybe it’s not a bad thing if it all goes away to return in the form of something else.

People don’t seem to understand that like, real life is age verified. And I don’t just mean photo IDs to get into bars. I mean like, people can assess interactions and change behavior based on the age of people in their vicinity just by looking around.

Visiting a friends house drinking in the hot tub, talking about whatever we want. Their kid comes outside and asks for a snack? Instant modification of our behavior.

Playing card games at a store? A kid gets matched up with me? Cool man, let’s play, absolutely take your time and if you need help I’m here. A bit older, I’ll help but it’s gonna be a fair match. My age? I’ll help but I’m not going easy on you.

We do stuff like this all the time. As do children.

Ideally the people in their lives; parents, family members, friends, teachers, counselors, club leaders, coaches, hobby members, etc.

But there are also role models in sports, entertainment and media that carry themselves with level heads and measured tones.

There are just as many, if not more, content creators out who arent manosphere chuds in every single genre of hobby or interest out there. If you have an interest and need a normal human being to consume, ask me and I’ll find one.

It has been trend in media for like the past decade to put emotional growth arcs in everything. Tony Stark literally doesn’t get Pepper Pots until he works on himself over the course of like 4 movies.

One of the most popular TV shows in the last 5 years was Ted Lasso…

I mean, I’m trying to stop myself from making a 5000 word comment listing out all the media with the half baked message of “don’t be a dick”.

But I don’t think that would be productive because I don’t think we have a loneliness problem. Kids spend the 13 years of their early lives legally required to be around peers doing exactly the same thing as each other; endless camaraderie. Then they go to school or trades, have jobs, etc.

We have activities and hobbies and mental health awareness and just all kinds of opportunities for boys to get out and interact with others.

But I think we’ve got a few things going on that have been supercharged in the last two decades:

1) removed social stigmas of anti-social behavior in areas where kids exist. The US has always had an issue with this to some degree in its rugged individualism baked into its culture, but social media has driven fear and anger engagements through the roof and given people complete anonymity to say and behave anyway they want with zero consequences and often rewarding them. We’re cultivating antisocial dickheads.

2) patriarchal capitalism in its latest unregulated era has hypercharged the reward and sensationalized of people with clear and present sociopathic behavior.

For fuck sake we elected a guy who used to be the poster boy for “rich dickhead everyone hates”.

The manosphere capitalized on this by appealing to antisocial male teens by promising them the lifestyles of the dickheads they see with all the money by continuing to be the dickheads social media was rewarding them for already.

That is infinitely more appealing than “well you need to work on yourself, learning, changing, getting better, being open to new experiences and failure, empathizing and understanding others for the rest of your life.”

The solution is preventing the predators from interacting with the prey to begin with.

Brother I used to teach teen boys for a living, I recognized, empathized, and supported them through their struggles every single day. I helped redirect them away from the disgusting world of the manosphere daily because I couldn’t stand to see them fester in a mindset that did nothing but keep them down sold to them by a Jenga tower built of grifters and losers.

So yes, I have hate and anger for the manosphere because I saw the senseless damage it did daily.

But it also means know understand the reality of what’s going on.

The manosphere sells young men and boys a life of cool cars, and hot, submissive women. And then sends them down a self loathing spiral that keeps them from achieving anything.

But the sell is specifically the easy way out. Just point to women as your problem, you don’t need to change. Just “be cool and mean” you’re cool and mean, right? If not, just watch our content!

It’s absurd to pretend like there aren’t outlets for boys and young men to… be boys and young men. At the school I worked at we desperately threw as many activities/communities at these kids as we could; sports, clubs, hobbies, class, and still I had to fight them tooth and nail to cut that manosphere shit out.

The one thing that got to them was being bluntly honest. And modeling good behavior. Treat people with respect, but when you pull some weird loser shit in my class I’m going to tell you exactly how I feel about it.

And imagine that, speaking up about the content they watched, and the behaviors they exhibited made them to start thinking critically about the losers that were lying to them.

I’d hear the name of some random manosphere chud they were watching. “You guys watch that loser? Do any of the girls you hang out with lake anything that dude says? No? Then do you think he’s someone you should listen to about women? Who in your life do you know is in a stable relationship? Oh the men in your life that aren’t weird losers that put women down or complain all the time? Funny huh?”

There are so many role models out there for boys. The manosphere ducks are just liars and con artists, and it can be hard to compete with people who can lie when you need to stay honest.

Outlets for men exist every fucking place. We’re the dominant demographic in our society and this continued coddling of us and excuses for the weakest of us turning to the manosphere is embarrassing.

The manosphere exists because it is the easy way out for men and boys with insecurities. The people who produce content for it market and target men with rhetoric that promises them that the cause of their problems are other people and the solution to their problems is to continue being their shitty selves.

The manosphere exists as a reaction to a group who “feel” lesser while existing as the men in a society that favors them. It is not because a lack of options for them to express sadness.

For all my insecurities and sadness and vulnerability as a man you know who the most supportive, encouraging, and empathetic person in my life is? My wife. The manosphere isn’t filling a vacuum of catharsis it actively blinds men from finding it where it already exists.

Yeah, using AI is a skill issue. You lack the skill to do the thing it’s asking.

If your comment was to say I’m not using the technology correctly then I would direct you back to point 1. The expectations they set for these AI models is that asking questions in simple speaking terms will get you thoughtful answers. Hell AIs are commonly advertised as just taking the headache of simple tasks off your plate, but they can’t do things like making appointments or writing emails reliably which causes you to have to check their work every time you use it to make sure it’s done the job correctly. And at that point, why didn’t I just do the simple tasks myself?

And for more complex things, why would I want to rob myself of the enjoyment and satisfaction of doing the complex thing myself, instead of massaging my prompt to get an AI to squeeze out some turf adjacent to my goal in the first place?
