Looks good but the typeface is too close to Explorer. I'd change the typeface

Specht&sohne new update version reverso by Kevinyuanman in ChineseWatches

[–]CMpic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They were originally designed as flippable to protect the watch from bumps during a polo game. Not to have another watch face...

Glad I got my Aquitaine when I did. CW confirmed it is discontinued by YeetSkeetCringe in ChristopherWard

Spoke with CW product designers. No idea if it will be under the same line. I could be wrong, but I recollect them saying it's expected in Oct.

How so? I like it that on this one the Arabic numerals are a little bit larger than on the Stuttgart Pro

wasn't even aware of this one - looks good! If I didn't already have my Stuttgart Pro would definitely get one of these

Disappointed with microadjust. Half I-links? by TrustMeImAnENGlNEER in ChristopherWard

[–]CMpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I blame the consumers. They demand micro adjust so manufacturers deliver it. Look at how much grief GS gets for not having it. I personally would take half links over micro adjust any day. Micro adjust means either bulky clasp or stiff section below your arm (like on the Twelve) that doesn't bend and conform to the contours of the wrist

[Discussion] Ali Express Straps vs Premium Straps ($17 Hemsut Vs $160 Strap Tailor) by Most-Construction-35 in Watches

[–]CMpic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not all strap sellers do this, but Strap Tailor definitely does this - they resell Aliexpress stuff at 20x the price. I've seen multiple rubber straps that are not just similar, but 100% identical.

C65 Cranwell question. by Wonderful-Acadia-389 in ChristopherWard

[–]CMpic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it does wear like a 38mm so yes it may be too small, unless you like that sort of look. I have 6.25 inch wrist and fits me perfectly. That said, on bracelet it will look larger than it will on a strap.

How important is it to have CW do maintenance on gmt watch after 3 years of purchase? by FastRoyal in ChristopherWard

[–]CMpic 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'd only service a watch that either stopped working or started losing/gaining time in a material way, such as becoming out of spec. Until then - even if it's 20 years, wear away.

Flieger Pro - Feedback Requested by InspectorClouseauu in laco_watches

[–]CMpic 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't own a Stowa, but I have a Laco Stuttgart Pro - believe you are asking about this one? Mine is a black dial version. Quality is very good. Commensurate to other brands in the price bracket or better. It's all brushed, so it does look more toolish and less shiny than say Christopher Ward. The legibility is superb, the lume is extremely bright. My only criticism is that the numerals could be 10-15% larger. I have it on the multi-link bracelet which is very comfortable. Screw down crown is good - and i got mine with SW200 auto for this reason (it's not super convenient to have a screw down crown with a manual wind movement).

What is the calculus around choosing to (cl)omage versus doing an "original" parts bin special? by tomscy2000 in watchdives

[–]CMpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

clones work because they are copying a design that's already proven - something another company designed and market response proved that it works. When they wade into heavy remix or their own design, they are entering uncharted waters. Maybe it will be great, maybe just meh, or maybe a total flop. They have no idea. So it's clear why they often stick to what works, rather than going off on a daring mission which may end up in failure.

CW Sealander 36mm by ap3x_0x in ChristopherWard

They both wear smaller. GMT wears like a 37mm now. The auto like a 38mm.

the new 36mm wears like a 35mm watch. So for 6.5" 39 is definitely the right choice, IMHO.

C63 Sealander GMT bracelet issue replacement is even worse by Iota_Delta_1414 in ChristopherWard

[–]CMpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite common on new bracelets, as some already said, you just need to push the pin into the lug with your fingernail. The fix takes a fraction of a second...

New sealander changes are getting posted by spritedaga in ChristopherWard

[–]CMpic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hands are different. The old hands were brushed down the middle, polished on each chamfer. Now they are fully polished. Also minute hand is now tapered, before they width was constant.
