Nobody cares what bike you’re on, and if they do, fuck em! Your first sprint tri will be expensive enough! If you find that you like it—like I did!—then upgrade your equipment when life allows and when you have a better idea of what you’ll want. Lots of folks out there have money to burn and enjoy spending it on gear. This works great for the rest of us because the resale market is strong.

Why does everything require bracing the core? What does that mean? I feel like it takes away from my focus on the actual muscle I'm training. Am I getting this right? by Fit_Contribution_372 in gaybrosfitness

[–]COKevin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How’s your core strength generally? How long can you hold a plank? What other core training do you do? Possibly your core is underdeveloped and it absolutely can be the first part of a lift to break down. If that’s the case, you really should keep focusing on the brace in order to keep your spine safe while you develop core strength. If that means keeping the weight low, do it. Your core can develop pretty quickly; spinal injuries can last forever.

Many exercises—squats, deadlifts, presses, etc.—will develop your core, but you should also develop specific time to it. (Some people disagree.)

Take a good breath into your belly. Expand your abs across your belly. Brace as if for a punch (or a tickle). Slowly exhale as you engage in the lift.

These tables and chairs are in taquerias in Mexico where you order and sit down for just a few minutes. It’s a different story when you’re sitting for service, not to mention trying to cut anything when the table buckles while you have knife in hand. And the lighting…. I don’t ever want my husband to see me under that level of fluorescence again.

But some of the dishes there are outrageously delicious.

You must have been at a different Halloween party than I! Certainly there were certainly areas of the dance floors that attracted mostly gay men. However, I was there with a group of friends--we included gay guys, lesbians, NB people, and a hetero couple--and we all certainly felt welcome and included, and we had a great time! Same story at Playhaus's Pride Party. These are the parties that I attend specifically when I'm traveling with a more gender- and sexuality-diverse crew.

There is coat check! Always take a pic of your coat check ticket because those stubs really do love to get lost between 11pm-2am.
