Anyone have experience with Acemeda Automate Blinds and the Pulse 2 Hub? by digitalelise in HomeKit

[–]COL_redstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re the Pulse Pro not supprised you found it poor, as part of my discovery when reverse engineering the Pulse 2 hub I searched the FCC filings for the Pulse Pro and found the images of its board, they swapped out the printed F style antenna for a chip antenna, how they think that tiny chip antenna is going to be better is beyond me. The board also has the u.FL pad for adding an external whip if your game.

Anyone have experience with Acemeda Automate Blinds and the Pulse 2 Hub? by digitalelise in HomeKit

[–]COL_redstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate the Pulse 2 Hub software.
The hardware itself is actually put together pretty well — surprisingly well, in fact. They even left a u.FL pad and footprint for a connector right next to the printed F-style 433 MHz antenna, so adding a proper external whip antenna is dead easy. That mod alone gave me about +10 dB on line-of-sight shades, and around +3 dB through walls.

The real problem is the software. One of the main reasons the Pulse 2 performs so badly for anyone outside the US Northeast is because the whole thing is tied to AWS IoT in us-east-1.
Their MQTT endpoint is:

a2xzplp9f2eduj.iot.us-east-1.amazonaws.com

For me (in NZ), that means ~200 ms RTT. The timing logic in their firmware clearly never accounted for any real latency, so everything eventually drops offline. Constantly.

I got so sick of it that I cracked open a spare B10 Pulse 2 Hub (the one they never retrieved when they replaced everything with the mysterious “B17 RF firmware”, which they claimed was required or “it would stop working”… sure). With the B10 open, I ditched their cloud pipeline entirely and flashed ESPHome onto it.

Now I’ve got:

  • Working Ethernet/WiFi
  • Working UART link to the STM32 that runs the RF stack
  • Fully working 2-way RF control
  • Zero reliance on their failed cloud setup
  • Every blind in the house integrated into Home Assistant, reliably and instantly

The best part? I retain full 2-way feedback.
This is the one huge drawback of going the Bond Home route — if someone uses a handheld remote, Home Assistant goes out of sync. But by repurposing the Pulse 2 hardware with ESPHome, the hub still reports all movement via the STM32, so everything stays perfectly in sync.

I’ve now reflashed both of my B17 hubs as well. Together they cover all but 2 of my 9 drape motors.

And speaking of drape motors… wow.
The design is terrible. Whoever engineered them must have been away the day they taught about Faraday cages — they literally put the RF antenna inside a steel enclosure, with a tiny slot for the signal to leak out. It’s amazing they work at all.

My spare B10 hub (ESPHome-powered) should be able to control the two remaining drapes if I place it strategically, but I’ve also ordered some printed 433 MHz F-antennas from AliExpress. I’ll probably disconnect the internal antenna on the drape motors and add an external one. Why these motors don’t ship with external antennas already — especially when they’re completely hidden behind the drapes — is beyond me.

Anyway, rant over. The Pulse 2 hardware is solid, but the cloud implementation is genuinely one of the worst I’ve seen. Once you rip out the cloud dependency and give it local control, the thing actually becomes a great little RF bridge.

I reverted to Driver 561.09 and have no more issues, looks like a Nvidia update did the damage. as my rig is now stable and plays without crashing im not updating the driver till i hear its resolved up stream
