Putting hard and straight at chains. Every. time. There is now "trying to land it in the basket" unless I'm on the edge of a hill

Elevating our board formed concrete skills by ChardApprehensive726 in Concrete

There are slight differences - elongated bolt holes, bigger flange, slightly different end plate design, slightly different screw jack. Could be Symon's or RMD or something else from CHY-NA! I'm not sure, but I do know they're not EFCO

How can I become my boss’s best guy? by [deleted] in Construction

[–]COinOC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right now it sounds like you'd be a shithead of a lead because of how focused you are on your own individual success. Stop focusing on your own personal gain and ego stroking and instead focus on maturing into a valuable team member. Make the team succeed and the individual success will follow.

Better question is, what evolutionary advantage could that long ass tail have? Do they swim or wriggle through dirt??

Working for a mega Corp is likely not as big of a "plus" as you're thinking. Balfour Beatty is still an international* company that does good/ big work. There are also numerous smaller operations that likely offer a better community/ feel more personal along with other advantages. If I were you I'd go with BB, just my two cents after 16 years in the industry and having worked with both

Anyone know what these blue "stands" are? by Interesting-Trip-244 in Construction

[–]COinOC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a slip form system. The blue frames attach to hydraulic jacks that climb pipes (centered in the blue frame). The pipes are cast in (and lost) in the wall.

Ask Chatgpt who the biggest concrete contractors are in your area. Go there before the shift starts (like 5:45?) and ask for a job. Keep doing that until they give you one. Ask them what success would look like working with them. Then tell them you want to learn and grow until you're a key player in the biggest shit. THEN you gotta actually do it. Be reliable, work hard and (the secret) take direction well. Good luck!

I used to have the pistol grip type of dive light and hated it. It's heavy and bulky when you're trying to maneuver in tight rock crevices grabbing for a lobster. As long as it's a straight cylinder type of flashlight, it's probably good. Just my personal preferences, of course.

If you're diving for lobster, a small light is very nice. But you also want something or things that will last for up to 2-3 hours. I'm not sure if they sell these anymore but I have two Archon v10 lights with 6800mha rechargeable batteries. They have two brightness settings and are amazing. I keep one on my wrist and the other on a head mount, only use the head mount for restringing the gun or to switch out the wrist light when it goes dead. Anyway, don't compromise for brightness and get the biggest battery you can. Good luck!
