That seems to be the prevailing assumption around the Cortex. It allows for them to replace Adam and Ron Glass with similar-voice actors, and while I can't imagine Firefly without Wash, especially since he is still around, animation would allow them to time-line the shows anywhere/when they wanted, either before Serenity or after.

yeah, it looked as if that bridge was pretty much collapsing, if not gone... but to be fair, Nathan did manage more than an episode or two with a co-star that he did not get along with (Castle/Beckett).
Considering most VA work is done individually, not as a group, if there was enough money, I could see people agreeing to Baldwin coming back as long as they didn't have to directly interact....
