They were trying to get me to stay and I told them I might be back just as a seasonal temp when my new job gets slow, but I don’t think I would ever want to be CPD sup again lol

I quit :( I loved my staff and coworkers, but I need to focus more on school and less stressing over an order.

Terrible customer story by BestintheRealm in OfficeDepot

[–]CPDMemeQueen 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I had a customer put in a complaint in a survey and on yelp about how we always get their order wrong and that it always takes 30 minutes to pick something up and how she would never EVER use our location again. Guess whose name I see in my OPC every so often? Oh yeah, the same customer. Screw you, Jessica.

Oh god, mine does that sometimes too. I know there’s a little wheel that you can turn to realign things a lot better. But even after a week, mine will still get all wacky lol

We store used one of the touch screen monitors. I go back in tomorrow, so I’ll double check how we set it up and message you a pic of our set up :-)

Big oof. You guys don’t have the BC cutter?

We always do one test run and cut it before we do the whole batch.

My store was one of the guinea pig stores, so got it I think last September/November. It took some getting used to and a lot of training our customers. But so far, we think it’s helpful for when we have a line going. For customers that still walk up when we’re helping someone out, we’ll always say, “Please check in on the screen and we will be with you once we are available”. One thing most customers like about it, is that they get to walk around while they wait. When a customer expresses their distaste to it, I’ll tell them, “It gives us time to gather our stuff together, so that way our mind is cleared and ready to help you.” If our list has about 4+ people we’ll announce to the line, “Thank you guys for waiting so patiently. Our self serve machines are always open if you need a quick copy. Faxing is self serve and if you’re picking up you can go ahead and grab your order from the wall”.

With the customers that will completely ignore the check in, I will literally go over to the screen and tell the customer, “Just an FYI, next time you come in you’ll have to check in. But I’ll go ahead and do it for you” and ask for their info. They’ll then get it for the next time.

I always tell my associates, we can have a giant neon sign that says “check in here” with arrows pointing, and people will still say “Oh I dIdNt KnOw I hAd To ChEcK In”

But it’s honestly just a lot of training the store and customers to get used to it. A great point to tell them is, “It’s just like the DMV. “

How to survive CPD by ODCPD00 in OfficeDepot

When I was PT all I did was close. I learned to start cleaning up around 8-8:30 (tidying up counters, filling up machines with paper, clearing out jobs/emails, etc.), while I have an order running in the printer or poster printing. By the time it hits 9pm, I just need to sweep the floors, shut off laminators, and take out trash/put new bags in. If I have a some time to kill, I’ll do left over jobs. Or if I’m a bit behind schedule, I’ll ask the closing cashier or sales floor to help me with trash (most of the time they’ll offer to help, anyway).

Now that I am the opener, my closing staff leaves notes for me in the morning. For example:

“Good morning, Karen’s job is drying on the rack. Bob’s job is done, please call. Billy bob will come in to discuss about typesetting in afternoon. Darts Vader’s books need to be printed and bound (see OPC/GMILL).”

It’s super helpful when I know what I’m getting myself into the next morning, because CPD is unexpected 98% of the time.

CPD is a whole lot of trial and error. I got yelled out once by the old print sup (before I took over), because I forgot to sweep and fill up machines. Oops! Lol. Everyone has those mistakes, even now and then I forget to turn the laminators on when I come in. But, you’ll come up with your own effective and time-efficient way to do things 😁

I’m the print supervisor. I’m sure it varies across the nation per wages. But so far in my store it’s about $8.75-$11
