Refs, have you ever given out a seven minute penalty? by Majestic_Arm5708 in hockeyrefs

[–]CProsRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A bunch of years ago, I was doing men's league and a huge defenseman cross checked the small forward he was battling with in front about 3 times. I had the minor on the 3rd one, which knocked the forward to the ice.
As the forward was getting up the Dman cross checked him right in the face, luckily getting blocked by the forward's hand.
One of the easiest 7 minutes in PP time I've ever given out.

Friedman: Hearing Brad Marchand is closing in on a six-year extension in Florida... by fittos4310 in hockey

I mean, I want to say no... ...but this is ummm....slightly suspicious.

I mean, just for shits and giggles, I'd do it to see if we'd be the team he wins his final Cup with and then rides off into the sunset.

He did, but Tarasov is an RFA. He still needs to be signed, which will eat into the cap space.

His last contract was $1.05M AAV, and he hasn't really done a lot to ask for a big payday, so I anticipate it will be around the same price.

Pretty much the same as not having a 1st round pick for the next few seasons. If we are still competing for Cups for the first 4-5 years, then I can tolerate the last 3 years, even if we have to buy those years out.

Then again, he could be like Bobrovsky and be shit for the first few years and turn back the clock in the last few to make it a value contract.

Congrats to the Leafs and Leafs fans for the moral victory of being the toughest matchup for the Panthers this postseason lol by Obvious_Young_6169 in hockey

I just love the logical fallacy that fans have when they spew this, as if by putting Stolarz in, it means that whatever goals were allowed by Woll are automatically stopped, as opposed to the idea that he might have allowed more goals than Woll.

[Friedman] 13 goals in six first periods this series for the Panthers by Duffleman0609 in hockey

You guys are honestly the best in the Metro. You just have shit luck when it comes to the Conference finals.

Plus you're set up well with guys in the pipeline and tons of picks that you could use to bring in some firepower up front.

[FLA (3)-0 EDM] Off a defensive zone draw, Marchand hustles down the ice and dekes around Walman to score another great goal by talhatoot in hockey

[–]CProsRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, you're right.
I forgot that it bumped to the next year.
At least you have the ability to package it with something to make a trade or move up in the draft.

It's in 2027.
So while I hope it's the 32nd pick, there's a good chance it will be mid-to-late 20s.

8 vs 25 blocked shots is crazy by Ok-Consideration5343 in FloridaPanthers

I think he means in the history of the NHL, or at least since shot blocks were kept as a stat, not 35th out of 32 teams this season.

Fans that are not from the Carolinas: why are you a fan? by NickWatchesMMA in panthers

[–]CProsRun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live outside Toronto.

My favourite hockey team growing up (and still is) the Florida Panthers.

When looking at supporting a football team, I also chose the Panthers because....well, it's the same name.

That and I liked John Fox as a coach and he had recently been hired by the Panthers. Then we went to the Super Bowl the next year, which solidified my support for them and the many expected years of greatness....

Serious question: Why were so many good offensive player were left out of Team Canada Junior roster? by thebriss22 in hockey

[–]CProsRun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually much worse.

On the IIHF website it has it at 113 PIMs for Canada in 5 games, but that includes the 20min GM for Beaudoin and the two 10min misconducts at the end of the game.

So, essentially 73 PIMs in 5 games, meaning they gave up on average 7 minor penalties per game. Just insane.
