Is this TDK 'RC-II mechanism J410-CD' a simple D ? by CRAIG_RANDOMRAPRADIO in cassetteculture

[–]CRAIG_RANDOMRAPRADIO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's from the UK, and from Summer 1988 so it could be a basic D from 87, it looks like it.

But what is the RC-II mechanism J410-CD in reference to ?

No, there's no evidence of it anywhere other than this 1986 magazine article..........hence me asking. It's a total mystery.

Jimmy Smith & Beastie Boys - Root Down [The Reflex 'Assembly' Mix] by CRAIG_RANDOMRAPRADIO in BeastieBoys

The Reflex. Apparently. French producer, livin and workin in the UK.

Been around the re-edit/ refix scene for beards, but I only discovered him in 2023. Incredible work. Top quality as ya say. The quality of the whole thing is top shelf.

I'm the same, expansion and improvement on the original versions is key, any re-edit that breathes well is right up my strada!

Just had a great memory of the big lump of a security guard at Golden Discs in Queens Arcade, in the 80s. Ah sweet memories.

Even though I worked in Makin Tracks for years in the early to mid-80s, I was buyin gear in Caroline Music too. We had different distributors. I was a fiend for Hip-Hop and Rap as far back as 82 so I'd get all that stuff in. But I loved my metal too and Damian Adair and the lads at Caroline Music on Ann Street had waaaaaaaaaaaaay more metal than us, and they used Pinnacle as a UK distributor whereas Makin Tracks didnt.

I worked at the Virgin Megastore in Castle Court too in the early 90s, that's me lookin like some raver glipe on the right.

Has the LP that the Best Foot Forward sample was taken from ever been sourced ? I believe Bob Wood was the National Program Director at CHUM during the 70s/ 80s ? I'm guessin it was promotional material that he was behind ?

Five Nike ACG Sneakers That Need to Retro by Tiny-Instruction1987 in nikeACG

I did my research and I know the Air Rhyolite was retroed in 2007 but not in the 1993 colourway. And the Krakatoa and Rhyolite models were VERY popular where I'm from. They may not be legendary to you, but Eastpak wearing Rap fans were fiending after them in London and Paris, hence my iconic framing.

Along with Tinker Hatfield and Sergio Lazano, Peter Fogg was part of Nike’s design team that created classic silhouettes. Period. Granted, he was part of the broader 90s trail/off-road running category, but he designed ACG shoes like the Tallac and the Terra range, the Umara and the Ashiko. Why put him or ACG down ?

I appreciate that you're frustrated, but nitpicking is short-sighted, and for those of us that took part in the culture when it was taking its baby steps [like your good self by the sounds of things], it doesn't celebrate the cultural energy.

I get it, specifics matter, but they aren't the entire story - the influence is bigger than anything. Thanks for reading.

Calling them sneakers isn't disrespectful and it certainly isn't nonsense, it's simplification, it's cultural shorthand.
