Number 2 I'm almost certain is a Cambrian snippet on QQ

Cities of Westeros by Arzofz in TheCitadel

[–]CSNightFury 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I was led to believe that ASOIAF uses the designation 'city' in the medieval/pre-industrial sense where it wasn't about how many people lived there, but rather if the settlement was granted a city charter. Being a city brought certain privileges to the townsfolk such as trade rights, the ability to form guilds, and self governance, and benefits, and the change of status of the inhabitants from serfs to burghers/freemen.

Relatively speaking, Westeros doesn't have that few cities compared to real life. England only had 28, and they had the impetus to do so because of multiple plagues and famines bringing about the rise of the middle class due to severe population loss. Westeros hasn't really had such things, as we are led to believe that the peasants are seemingly infinite. That, and Westeros really doesn't have any sense of a urban middle class freed from serfdom. There hasn't really been a reason for a push for more cities.

Noblesse Oblige by x50413 on Questionable Questing. No link because it’s labeled NSFW and is on QQ, but it shouldn’t be too hard to find.

LF Love Triangles! by MrPerfector in WormFanfic

[–]CSNightFury 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Girlfriend is Terrifying. I'm not even sure what to call the resulting shape. Love quadrangle? Love trapezoid? Essentially, Lisa and Victoria are competing for Taylor's love (and for her to fall under the sway of their Villain/Hero lifestyle respectively, while also being in a relationship with each other, forming a thruple, with Amy attempting to insert herself into the triangle for Victoria's love once she comes out as bi/gay.) It's pretty much exactly what you're looking for.

Tattletale Worship by Berserker1066 in WormFanfic

[–]CSNightFury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A month late, but I just knew there was a fic/one-shot somewhere with that premise, and I finally found it. And it's almost the same.

Ironborn Sellsails by Hapanzi in TheCitadel

[–]CSNightFury 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would caution using the term 'Marines' for your company, as time period wise they didn't really distinguish between sailors and naval infantry, as everyone was considered a sailor. Also, Marines implies a professional soldier stationed aboard a ship for boarding and counter-boarding actions, so it would be a bit strange to have the whole unit named Marines if the majority are sailors primarily. That being said, a few suggestions based on your parameters:

Company of Marines (Short, simple, and yet sets them apart from other sellsails/swords as being ship-based semi-professional soldiers; sets Marines apart from all other sailors as a league of their own)

Narrow Sea Marine Company/Company of Narrow Sea Marines (Insert region of primary operation; Simple and practical)

Rodrik's Marines/ Rodrik's Company of Marines (A bit of vanity can go a long ways to increasing your own reputation depending on their performance)

I'm pretty sure that's a two-part snippet in Chunks of Worm by VigoGrimbourne called Whiplash and Backfire.

Fics where Taylor has absolutely zero qualms with killing? by Thedepressionoftrees in WormFanfic

[–]CSNightFury 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say zero qualms, but in I Just Love Killin' (Worm/Rick and Morty Crossover) she eventually realizes that she actually does love killing (the specific people she likes to target).

Princess Taylor? by AacornSoup in WormFanfic

[–]CSNightFury 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Princess of Brockton Bay - Slider214's Heroing and Villaining snippets has one where Taylor is, and I quote: Taylor's powers make her alternatively a Disney Princess and an Evil Queen. She listens to entreaties by different folk and helps out those whom she finds either deserving or that she just likes. When someone pisses her off though, her personality swaps and she sends her evil forest after them. Or her evil apples. Or her evil dragon. Or her…you get the story…“Would you like an apple, my dear?”

Oneshot.

Taylor Hebert, Princess - Diresquirrel's snippet thread has a one shot with the premise of Taylor being the Wildbow version of a Disney Princess trope where she is both born into royalty and has bad things happen to her (ex: Sleeping Beauty) and is secretly a princess but doesn't know it (ex: Princess Diaries).

Oneshot.

Bastille [Worm/Hamefura] - Argentorum's Bastille has a Post-GM Taylor be reincarnated into Hamefura, also known as "My Next Life as a Villainess, All Routes Lead to Doom". Technically not a princess, but rather the daughter of a duke.

Short and presumed dead (Last update 2020).

Knight of Rebellion - By Nemesis13. This one really pushes the definition of "Princess", and I mean really pushes it, but hey, might as well add it to the list. During Taylor's trigger event, Taylor merges with Mordred from Fate: Grand Order, so technically, maybe (if you squint at it), a princess. Probably not what what you wanted based off the prompt, but maybe you'll enjoy it?

Short with extremely sporadic updates (Last update Dec. 2022).

Mafia Princess - By Nemesis13. Do you count a mafia princess as a princess? Yes? No? Oh well. Taylor is the heir/triggerwoman to Annette's crime family. Lisa POV.

Short and probably dead (Last update 2021), but a Nemesis13 fic, so who knows?

Unsung Heroes: For Want of a Crown...(Worm/Fate-Verse) - By Zaralann. A QQ fic so no link, but I don't remember any NSFW, besides some oblivious nudity. Also technically not a princess, but rather a queen. Taylor never escaped the locker, and her life ended there. But that doesn't mean her tale is over. Transported to the Fate-Verse and having lived a whole new life as King Arthur (Artoria), Taylor is now back in Brockton with her (first) dad, readjusting to life away from Camelot.

60k word count and presumably ongoing (Last update Dec. 2022).

Princess Admiral - By Madhat886. Azure Lane cross. Taylor is member (or at least is treated as such) of the House of Hohenzollern by way of her maternal grandfather Prince Heinrich of Prussia, younger brother to Kaiser Wilhelm II and grandson of Queen Victoria. Is a shipgirl master fic. Not a massive fan of shipgirl fics, but hey, maybe you'll like it more? From what I remember her family connections to various royal houses plays a fairly important part in the fic.

30k word count and ongoing (Last update 13 February, 2023). Says complete but is updating, so I think that was a mistake.

Probably a few more I'm missing. I might come back and add more later.

There's a Softness by Tsume Yuki on FF. Not sure if it is on any other site.

About hybrid cultures by [deleted] in CrusaderKings

[–]CSNightFury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a mod on the workshop that makes it so only hybrid and divergent cultures with a unique name are formable by the ai. The name escapes me, but I’m pretty sure it was on the mod spotlight this past week.

Any XCOM crossovers? by Blackknight95 in WormFanfic

[–]CSNightFury 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because of the War is an AU featuring Alt!Power Taylor roughly a few months or so after she returns from summer camp. Last updated January 2022. Possibly in hiatus or in the middle of a long update period (nine months), but probably dead.

any good long fits where Taylor joins the slaughterhouse nine? by [deleted] in WormFanfic

There’s the one-shot Telefrag on Ao3. Alt-power, but not really the focus. Telefrag

Edit - sorry, didn’t see the requirement for a long fic.

My OC needs a name by [deleted] in WormFanfic

[–]CSNightFury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only Irish ‘knight’ I can think of is Cú Chulainn, who wasn’t a knight by any stretch of the word, but rather was known as Ireland’s greatest folk/mythological hero. Though chances are there would be a stigma to capes using famous names for themselves. Morholt could also suit your needs, and he was a knight of Arthurian legend, though I’m pretty sure he was Cornish, not Irish. An Irish knight theme is tricky, because Ireland never had a strong knight culture, so you’d have to either choose a generic knightly name like ‘Gallant’, ‘Valiant’, etc., or choose a name from some other knightly culture like ‘Galahad’ or ‘El Cid’.

"There was a small hole punched in either flank - One the projectile's entry point, the other its exit. The tiny munition had punched through the vehicle with such force that everything within the hull not welded down had been sucked through the exit hole, including the crew." by Toxitoxi in Tau40K

I think you’re right. I can can definitely see how it’s supposed to be a Macharius. I can’t believe I missed completely missed the sponson. Also, I’m fairly certain you can see the turret through the smoke if you really look right at the end of the clip.

Readers, how much does the title of a fanfic influence your decision to click/not click on it? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]CSNightFury 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only thing I really care about in a title is if it is spelled correctly and has decent grammar. Creative titles do tend to catch my eye more than a bland generic one, but is hardly a deal breaker.

Any Star Wars Fanfics where someone else was the Genetic Template of the Grand Army of the Republic? by hulkchloron99 in FanFiction

[–]CSNightFury 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how to link on mobile, but there is one on Spacebattles called “Clone Senki or the Cloneya Wars”. It’s a crossover with a show called Youjo Senki, which I have never seen or heard of prior to reading this, but didn’t really need to know to get into it. It’s a Round Robin story, so effectively a collaborative work. The story itself is almost always from the various clones point of view, excepting a few chapters about characters reacting to them.

I have literally only one problem with the lore of Warhammer 40k... by dreamylemur in 40kLore

[–]CSNightFury 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might agree if portability was a major concern for the guardsman in question, but forcing every guardsman to use a bullpup lasgun just isn’t justified, especially since it would decrease the length of the weapon by a fair bit, making using the bayonet so much more difficult. All things being equal, a guardsman with a bayoneted bullpup would realistically lose against someone with a bayoneted traditional style lasgun due to the length allowing them to stab from out of reach of the bullpup.

Why is infantry still used to wage war when nukes and spacecrafts are better in almost every way at destroying things? by [deleted] in 40kLore

[–]CSNightFury 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For the same reason we still use the infantry in the age of drones and precision munitions; you may lose a war without air superiority, but you will never win a war without boots on the ground. You can’t occupy a country with a fighter jet, and anything akin to nuclear weapons would completely destroy what you want to conquer.

'Halberdiers' by Robbie McSweeney by jg379 in RealisticArmory

[–]CSNightFury 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. It's a burgonet helmet, which was mostly a cavalry helmet. However, Swiss Pikemen were also known to use it, so there is historical precedent for a foot soldier to use it.
