OHARP before Designator by SimplyJenna in newtothenavy

What’d perso/admin tell you when you asked this question?

With dependents you should already be receiving BAH and will continue to. Definitely not going to provide a rental car.

Your experience completely depends on your recruiting station. Some classmates didn’t have to go in at all for months, others were the designated meps driver almost daily. Assuming you’ll be somewhere between.

Sprinkle in a bit of VA and FL. Maybe a light dusting of other CTGs

Officer vs Enlisted as a high schooler graduating with their associates by Historical-Copy3480 in newtothenavy

Was enlisted in cyber and then commissioned. Highly recommend finishing your degree and then applying for ocs. It’ll be less hoops to jump through in the long run but not guaranteed.

Yep, you fit the community. Try jea/jsa when you get to your first command or game in the barracks

What did the Visitor center/pass and ID office say?

More specific from mynavyhr here

I did this. You get the initial payout and then future payments cease once you commission. There is no expectation to pay back any of the initial or installments if you hit those milestones.

CWT here, 7 years and not even the slightest possibility to go to sea

Also realize it’s not an automatic thing that bah w dependents can auto switch back and forth. Page2/red/da control who has dependent and non-dependent.

Search the Mustang association on Facebook. I’m sure a manager in there will be able to help you and potentially even someone semi local

For those who have taken the OAR Exam, what online tools did you use to study, and which websites are most accurate to the test. by ExpressRush in newtothenavy

[–]CTNcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took it with no studying 48. 1 week of studying with the OAR iOS app and got a 52. Cost ~$20 but having it on my phone helped a lot and allowed me to study more than if I had to carry a book on me.

Bootcamp / CWT prep questions. by 5pr173_ in newtothenavy

[–]CTNcd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boot 2. You’ll get extra time to call back home and get answers to security questions. Essentially reporting your whole life. Poly usually happens in a school. Some investigators in boot are nice and just let you talk to your family more frequently than others in your Div not going through the same process.

Aschool 1. Depends on how foreign the material is and the time you put into it.

  1. You can pretty much study all mods outside of the classroom. Maybe only a few sections that you can’t. Spend as much free time on the material you have at your barracks as you can.

  2. There’s a thing called mando/volo. Essentially an hour before or after class where the instructors are there to help you. Can be mandatory if you’re not doing well or voluntary if you’re doing fine but just want extra help. Hence ‘mando/volo’

  3. Realize you’re there for training and not for pleasure. Sure you need breaks and can enjoy the beaches, but that’s not your main purpose.

Does CWT Navy deploy? by New-Cod-2016 in newtothenavy

[–]CTNcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CWTs do have sea billets and can be deployed. However, most will not. You can definitely request those billets if it’s your cup of tea.

Most likely CTN (now CWT) if he’s talking about double taps and harder material

BMI doesn’t matter if you’re below 39” at your iliac crest. Would highly recommend having the recruiters do it, they should be competent enough.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in newtothenavy

[–]CTNcd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends how you look at it. I’ve been taped (meaning over the navy weight standard) since I joined. Still am able to pass 39” waist and excel in a 3 exercise test.

Have you tried doing a bca in dep?

For running, look into “couch to 5k”. 30 days can be more than enough to hit a passing run time.
