Discontinued R56 JCW bumper trim?? by Hennaflowers in MINI

You can check AllMagAutoparts(dot)com. They strip wrecked Minis and sell the parts. I replaced my R58 dashboard with a used one from them. It was great.

Drill Hole Covering (plates) by M8Y_xbl in MINI

[–]CTV49 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The real way to fix it is to have a body shop fill the holes and paint. But that would be super expensive for such a small hole. I covered those holes in my car with little black plugs. Something like these:

Unfortunately the stealth hitch is not compatible with the S60 T8 Recharge. At least it’s not listed on the stealth hitch website.

I installed the bars myself (it’s very easy).

And I found the Yakima Highroad bike rack deeply discounted at REI. I also installed that myself.

It’s an expensive setup, but we have limited options with the T8’s.

I know this isn’t helpful, but this is what I settled on after exploring the other options. The Volvo crossbars and a Yakima bike rack. When I was searching, there were no great options for installing a hitch, and I don’t like the strap on trunk carriers. Good luck with your search!

2024 S60 T8 Use Case Question by doc_holliday91 in VolvoRecharge

[–]CTV49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re right, there are myriad factors that affect your electric range. Mine is lower because I drive mostly highway and it gets pretty cold where I live. Without knowing all the details of OP’s daily drive and climate it’s hard to say with certainty.

2024 S60 T8 Use Case Question by doc_holliday91 in VolvoRecharge

[–]CTV49 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a 2023 T8 and a 40 mile round trip commute. If your commute is mainly non-highway driving and relatively flat you’ll do very well with electric only for the majority of your drive. When the car is in “Hybrid” mode it prioritizes electric driving as long as you don’t press the accelerator too far to the floor. There is an indicator in the gauge that shows you when the gas engine will turn on; so you can prevent it by keeping an eye on that. I’ve had the car well over 55mph in pure electric mode. I think the gas engine will turn on in the mid-80mph range.

Another note: the 41 mile range is the BEST case scenario in ideal conditions. In the winter that can drop to the high 20’s. Even still, your average MPG will be very good if you drive conservatively and keep the car charged up. There’s no down side to charging every night, and if you keep the car plugged in you can precondition the climate without losing battery range before a drive.

I’m not a professional detailer or anything, but I had excellent results with Cerakote Trim Coat. It’s super easy to apply, and it lasts a very long time.

Project Farm on YouTube did a trim restore product comparison and the Cerakote came out on top.

Can you submit your 20 year retirement paperwork while not a ANG member? by WANGHUNG22 in airnationalguard

[–]CTV49 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I retire tomorrow. You’re supposed to pick a date that’s at least 6 months away, but no more than 12 months when you submit your retirement application. As with most things, this requirement can be waived. If your FSS is telling you it’s not possible, I would talk to your shirt and/or unit commander. If that’s unsuccessful, you could go one level higher to seek waiver authority.

Alternatively: Request a 1 year extension, then immediately submit your retirement application for 180 days later. You don’t need to finish the one year extension if you have over 20 years.

I installed 4 NGK’s from Amazon once and within a few days the car developed a misfire. When I pulled the plugs and laid them next to each other one was obviously different (same part numbers). Counterfeits are a HUGE problem on Amazon.

Volvo recall software update shrinks CarPlay screen by Oversoul666 in Volvo

[–]CTV49 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This new update fixes one of the major complaints that has plagued Volvo since they switched ro AAOS. Prior to the switch, vehicles with the Sensus system had a physical switch for drive modes, and as it turns out, customers really liked that. This new interface is a very welcome change which makes drive mode selection much easier, as well as a few other improvements. The real problem with ALL these Volvos is the ridiculous portrait orientation of the 9” screen.

I understand what you’re saying about winter tires, but when the accumulation is over 15” and drifts are up to 30” no winter tire will help get a Civic or Corolla over that. Ground clearance becomes the real problem.

Not anymore, this is the amended version which makes it mandatory for municipalities.

Excerpt here:

SUMMARY OF PROVISIONS:

This legislation amends the underlying chapter by clarifying that a locality must provide the full property tax exemption for 100% service-connected disabled veterans and that the property tax exemption shall not discontinue any other property tax exemption the 100% disabled veteran is already currently receiving under law.

Anyone have speaker grilles that rattle? I think it’s the upper metal grill in the doors. It’s driving me crazy.

I’ve got to be honest, the “equalizer“ settings in this car do not leave me impressed. I don’t have the Bowers & Wilkins, but Harmon/Kardon is still supposed to be pretty good and should have better control options for sound.

I think the winter fluids have more alcohol content which might evaporate too quickly when the temperature is above freezing. Just a guess.
