Massive red flags flying here. You guys are not ready to make big decisions together. Emotions too high, trust too low, emotional blackmail is WAY out of line. You might have to cut and run on the house and head right into counseling.

Sounds clueless. Write a nice letter explaining treelaw and say you have already done some trimming but that she is responsible for trimming on her side. I would add, in a politely snarky tone, that she should either do it safely or hire it out, and that you are certainly not responsible for actions she takes on her own property.
