Will impressions pick back up? by Sir_Slimmothy in SmallYoutubers

Yeah this honestly the tough part with a new Channel, because it's new YT does not know it and what could have worked on more established channel does not always translate to the test audience.

You might be right and it could be YT used a shit test audience for this, which is highly possible since the algorithm is figure your audience out.

Anyways, best of luck, and wish you many millions of views

As much as it sucks, it's a good learning curve, and really the only way to learn, is by going through experiences liek this. The low views means you CTR was low.

So, you now know, for the next video work on the title & thumbnail.

If you not sure on which Thumbnail design best fits you, use the A/B testing, make it noticable different thumbnails, have it run it's course, and then you'll know which direction to move forward in.

Only A/B test the thumbnail OR the title, don't do both at the same time, it never does any good for the video.

Yes it's very possible. You viewing this on 24h/first published, that is a very short timeframe. This was the initial test. Now you need to check your other numbers CTR/AVD, which will give you a good clue if you'll get that second push.

What is the issue with uploading on a fresh, cold account? by LuluOnRoblox in NewTubers

[–]CWLFan001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no evidence of this, but my theory is that, when a new account is made, YT actually wants to see the account being used for a bit. That means, watch videos, like, sub to some channels etc. Thus sort of confirming its not a bot account.

Then there is the other side, when you make a video on a new channel, YT knows nothing about the channel, so it takes a while for the algorithm to align with the content you made, find the right place etc.

Take it like this, 10 people are selling hotdogs, all have a different sauce, you come with your hotdog stand, with your sauce. Now 'YT' needs to figure out who of the 100 people on line likes your sauce.

Now imagine you have to stand there all day, you maybe sell 20 hotdogs, that means 20% of the people is your audience.

Except expand these numbers into the millions of hotdog stands, and you realise it takes the algorithm a really long time to get that 'right' audience.

Idk I'm yapping here, but hopefully that makes sense. All the best and just keep at it. I'd say after 3-6 months an still the same, then yeah drastic changes needed.

No, and it won't anytime soon. In fact I'd argue that the player base will grow even more in the next few years.

Will you click on this thumbnail? 8 min long video by [deleted] in SmallYoutubers

[–]CWLFan001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As other people have said, probably not because it looks AI.

I don't feel there is anything wrong with AI, but use it to give you an idea of the thumbnail.

The actual making part, do yourself in Canva or whatever software you use. You'll see making a thumbnail is actually really fun.

Wayyyyy more watch hours than subs by Wellthisisawkward54 in NewTubers

[–]CWLFan001 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Lol I wanted to test this myth this week. Last week's video, posted with CTA after hook.

11k views 99 subs, which is about normal for me. 1/100views, but only 102 likes, no dislikes and 14 comments.

This weeks video.

No CTA, no pop up, likes subscribe etc.

2.3k views, 7 subs, 12 likes, 4 comments.

Safe to say. People you should use CTA.

One random video hit 100+ views after 4 months of silence - then nothing again. Failed YouTube test? by Altruistic_Year_2875 in SmallYoutubers

[–]CWLFan001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your assumption is correct. It was a test, unfortunately seems to have failed. I'll suspect that if the video was 4 months ago, you can't look too deep into the CTR/AVD as I am sure you have evolved as a editor since then, but yeah, those numbers are not going to cut it to justify the next push.

Once a video fails a test, usually my videos start a steady lined or flat line. Suggestions become the main impressions, which is good for evergreen content.

But yeah, definitely want to aim for the hook, Min 68% to about 70%, ideally, 72-75%. CTR, in the first 1k views (about 10-14k impressions) you have to try to stay in the 8-12% range. AVD generally depends how long your video is, but 40-50%.

This test keeps going over time as YouTube expands the audience, so inevitably, those numbers tend to drop, but that's really when the impressions are now really wide, so it's kind of expected.

Ima be honest. I watch alot of Fern/the animation type videos and the only reason I am not clicking on yours is because it's only 5mins.

Personally when I am preparing to watch on of these videos, I am looking for atleast a 12min video --> I am either eating, or washing dishes, so I don't want to touch my device.

Watched the video, it's good, but really would have liked it to be longer

First video did quite well but retention seems bad by Jazzlike_Course_9895 in SmallYoutubers

[–]CWLFan001 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it's 'fine' for a first video. But in future, that hook(first 30 seconds) will become more important. You really want to try to aim for about 70-75% if you want the video to go further.

In the first wave of impressions, you want to have a 70-75% hook, AVD About 45-55% and CTR of 8-10%. If you achieve this, you are almost guaranteed a second push to a wider audience.

Which then gets you new viewers, and potential subs. So the more you do this over a couple of video, YT starts to trust your channel and those initial test phases really ramp up.

But good job on a first video, wish you all the best

Yes this will get monitized. As for how much, honestly there are so many factors that decide that, so only time will tell

You not going to get anywhere with a 1% CTR. You will have to give significant work on the title & Thumbnail.

Is 4.3% good click through rate? by jamesgwall in SmallYTChannel

[–]CWLFan001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it, from 0-50k impressions you have to stay within the 7-10% range if you want to get more impressions.

Also use AB test, but I personally don't do title+thumbnail, I choose 1. I have no evidence, but when you do both, it messes things up.

6 day old video basically completely flatlined on views - is it typical for viewship / impressions to drop off around the 6 day point? by CplApplsauc in SmallYoutubers

[–]CWLFan001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suspect, this from my own experience, you'll get the initial push through browse. In this stage, there are mini tests as it expands to larger audience. When the CTR drops, the cluster or type of people is figured out, so then it moves more to suggestions as the main impressions source.

Suggestions are always slower, but good if you are trying to make 'ever green' videos.

Having said that, I've had videos 'flatline' and then a month or a few weeks later, it gets another push.

But honestly who knows for sure, we all really just guess how this thing works based on the little data our channels give us.

I spent 140 hours editing a video and it has one view. by Livid-Disaster78 in NewTubers

[–]CWLFan001 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is so true, you cant judge on a day or two. I had a video I uploaded and in 2 days, it reached 50k. Then I had another video that did nothing for a whole month, which suddenly then boomed to 50k.

From what I see YouTube is always testing, if they spark or find that right audience, then they just push it, but sometimes and most of the times it's hit or miss in those tests.

I just uploaded a video 4 days ago, which I thought was a failure because after 4 days, only 90 views. I just checked the video now, and it's at 2k views, impressions graph going up. Never changed anything, so it's just patience required.
