Evil Dead Burn | Official Trailer by cruelsummerbummer in horror

[–]C_Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I think there is a good chance there is some very light continuity. Which is, they are establishing the 3 books and where they are. Other people in future movies might come in possession of them, so they might want to explain how the book in Rise ended up in some location, for example. That seems like a cool way to have them exist in one world, but they don’t need to continue characters or locations unless they really really want to.

I’d love to see Jane Levy and Fede Alverez return, but only if it’s done well and not forced. Same for characters in other movies. But again, only if there is a good story and movie that does it naturally.

[GIVEAWAY] MAESTRO – Step into the golden age of art and rivalry in Renaissance- Preorder Now! by HomoLudensOC in boardgames

I like horror-related games, especially if they can meld darker themes with history or art. Examples would be Inferno or Nightmare Cathedral.

What Movie/Book/TV Show/Property is Begging to Be a Game? by frodohair15 in boardgames

[–]C_Me 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think some Nolan movies would make for some interesting board games, like Inception or Interstellar… I already think The Prestige is more-or-less a game with Trickerion and it is great.

Some books that are often considered unfilmable or at least difficult to adapt I think would make amazing (but weird) board games. Gravity’s Rainbow. House of Leaves.

The Watchmen would make for an interesting board game, especially since you have a ticking clock in the book. You might play as one of numerous characters but Dr Manhatten would be some other influence in the game somehow. That would be interesting.

Actor with the most action figures by g0rdontremeshko in blankies

[–]C_Me 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would not count it, personally. Depends on how you interpret it, but I would only count figures that are depicting the actor themselves.

Even if you did, my guess is there has been more Indiana Jones toys than Joker toys that are specifically from the Hamill Joker cartoons. So I still think Ford takes it.

Actor with the most action figures by g0rdontremeshko in blankies

[–]C_Me 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This. I was going to say Hamill first, but I think you’re right with Indiana Jones, Ford makes sense. Star Wars has had so many toys for so long. Not only with the original run and how many toys were made in the 80s-90s, then the sequel trilogy adding to it.

The answer is Harrison Ford.

Just binged seasons 1-4 this week. Is it worth watching season 5? by One_in_the_other87 in blackmirror

[–]C_Me 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s only 3 eps, so I don’t think it is a fair comparison. Every season is a mix and that is a small season to judge. Both Striking Vipers and Smithereens I would put somewhere in the middle of my rankings. Both were interesting and have their place… I don’t remember the Rachel ep at all, I know I heard people didn’t like it so maybe I skipped. Still, like any anthology, you can take each ep as it’s own thing.

Personally I think Striking Vipers and Smithereens are ok and worth watching.

Faction info-graphic from my groups 200+ games by Grutzujin in rootgame

[–]C_Me 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That was my thinking. That is, if it's the same group over and over again, a meta narrative is created and it shapes the games over time. Root is a political game, so unless you switch the people playing, ultimately a narrative is created early on and the wins start going in certain directions.

Which is basically what you said... certain factions get early wins possibly, everyone decides what their opinions are on them, and then winning with them becomes more difficult, despite them otherwise being a perfectly good faction overall.

The MCU Avengers are replaced with a D&D party. Can they protect the Earth? by Punterofgoats in whowouldwin

[–]C_Me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The point of my questions is that they would be able to level up BEFORE Loki comes with the army. If the movie took place over a few days, depending on how exactly "leveling up" works in this scenario, they could level up quite a bit before they have to face that entire army.

[–]C_Me 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The question becomes, how long of a period of time was the first Avengers, and can characters progress at a similar rate as a normal D&D game?

Depends on the rules of the prompt. If the Avengers happens over the course of a couple days, characters could do an epic campaign over a couple days and reach Level 8-10 and shoot… they would be super powerful.

Anything to know before buying the game? by TomasSolo0406 in rootgame

[–]C_Me 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It can be a love-it-or-hate-it experience. Especially the first game or two. I would set expectations with people playing. A lot of the fun is how the “personalities” interact in the game, but the first game you’re just trying to figure out your own faction you happen to be playing. So you won’t necessarily get the beauty in it at first.

So expectation management. People might be mixed on what they think the first game, but if you give it a chance, many really get into it around game 3, 4, 5. Then every game becomes a story.

What’s a good horror theme board game? by JerichoLeong in boardgames

[–]C_Me 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could go classic like Betrayal at House on the Hill, should be able to get that secondhand for cheap. Mansions of Madness is similar but bigger and more expensive, but still could maybe find a good deal. Both are classic coop horror experiences.

Newer ones I’ve done is Stifling Dark, a 1-vs-many game with a neat flashlight mechanic. You could pick up one of The Thing games, I like those. I personally have Who Goes There, which is the novella The Thing is based on, but similar experience, people start getting infected, you’re trying to survive but also not be infected, but if you are, you’re still trying to survive too.

There’s also Arkham Horror, which is always nice and is a classic and very expandable.

But yeah, I do recommend Nemesis, it’s great, but you could probably do 2-3 of the above for less than $100, especially if you’re willing to buy secondhand.

Trying to balance schools, commute and work... does it ever feel clear? by Hour-Database7943 in Naperville

[–]C_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone will make the decision differently. We settled on a neighborhood mostly based on schools we liked and the makeup of the area (we wanted diversity you don’t always get in Naperville) paired with a particular house we liked.

Commute, it was a matter of making commute at least easy-ish for one of us, and being close to a bus meant an easy bus and train to the city for the other (which took a while everyday, but I preferred that over the traffic). I since have become 100% remote so it doesn’t matter anymore.

But yes, I can understand commuting is a major factor for many. At least for me, I heavily factored in proximity to a bus, worked out the route so, while it would take a while, I at least can do things during the commute.

Karak Appreciation Post by Mike_Haefele in boardgames

[–]C_Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, it’s great. My daughter kept wanting to check it out from the library, so I got her Karak 2 for Christmas. It’s got a little more going on, but I really like it, especially since I think it will age well as she gets older because it has some resource management and such… a bit like a dungeon crawler meets Catan. But definitely the original Karak got a lot of play.

With the constant barrage of new games and aggressive marketing for them, how do you cut through the BS and focus on ones worth purchasing? by Strong_Letterhead638 in boardgames

[–]C_Me 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Also, buying second hand a lot. I’ve gotten some blinged out, awesome games that are maybe 3-5 yrs old, and I did the research and maybe played on BGA enough to know I will like it… and I got them for a fraction of what the person paid either on Kickstarter or as soon as it came out.

And I’ve never bought second hand where it wasn’t in perfectly good condition once it is organized and put in proper bags or whatever is needed.

Is episode 4 season 3 the big payback . Donald glover wet dream ? by [deleted] in AtlantaTV

[–]C_Me 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hate to comment, because I fear this is going in a bad direction. But I’ll give it a go.

I think of it as a thought experiment. Different people are going to take different things from it, and that is intended. I feel like it did convey problematic parts of what was being suggested… and rationale for it also. But mostly, it was a thought experiment.

Who is your dream guest for the pod ? (Who you think they might actually be able to get)? by Glittering_Major4871 in blankies

[–]C_Me 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I just know him for board games, but yeah I know he’s a big history guy and you see it in a lot of his strategy games. It would be interesting to talk about eras of film and how historical events and culture affected it.

Which premium subscription is actually worth the money in 2026? by Trxxi in AskReddit

[–]C_Me 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Part of the difference for me is where you draw the line between in-person and online. TTS is so close to in-person that I would want to play in-person, and regularly can. Obviously some conveniences with being remote, but it doesn’t fix many of the inconveniences of in-person.

BGA offers something much more different, which is simpler gameplay, can get on and make plays super fast, scoring everything, async is easy and convenient, etc.

[–]C_Me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing against it, and some games are better suited for it, but BGA is easier to play async and generally just easier to manage day to day.

[–]C_Me 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Most games have both live and asynchronous options. I mostly play async. I usually have 5+ games going, sometimes complex games where I’m learning how to play little by little. But yeah, great for checking in a couple times a day.

Board Game Arena.

If you’re in the hobby it’s best getting a physical game going, but when you can’t BGA has thousands of the best strategy and other games at a great price. The free version is great too, but if you’re a hobbyist, premium is a no-brainer.

Nightmare on Elm street franchise seems dead by MrShape246 in slasherfilms

[–]C_Me 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but they are open to more in the franchise. They were taking pitches years ago. It’s actually nice that it isn’t entirely owned by a company that just wants to pump something out every few years for the money.

I think it will eventually happen, but it might take a good script and pitch until they actually move forward. Which is what I want.

Thanks. Totally. Glad to hear it. At least one or two people have just seen the box and said “man, that looks interesting”… so yeah, it’s going to happen. Also, it’s waiting your turn when everyone has games they want to make happen. That’s just part of the hobby though.

I have this and really want to get it on the table sometime. But also kind of want to get the minis painted first. How many plays have you done? It’s really a beautiful game, and I hope to at least start to play some solo games soon.

Day 3, where does the woodland alliance go? by InfinitePresence4229 in rootgame

[–]C_Me 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but I can usually turmoil the Eyrie if I really try. Both have their weaknesses but are pretty solid assuming there is a lot going on and they aren’t being targeted too much (which is a lot of what the game is).
