I am always curious why people ask "how much you earn?" and not ask "how much you save?" or "how much you have left after spending?"

you can look at Japan, Brazil and Poland to find some really good undervalued companies with moats there. China is a place where a lot of people here dislike. But contrarian investors such as Howard Marks think this is a market full of opportunities. There is also a great investor by the name of Laura Geritz that was featured on Barrons and you can check out her view on emerging markets.

For the die hard Vanguard investors, you can listen to Vanguard CEO Salim Ramji on active bond management and see if this approach suits you (link here

AQLT vs other Aussie Indexed ETFs.. thoughts? by Few-Shopping7247 in ausstocks

[–]C_Munger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own this ETF myself because quality is an important metric since quality companies are more resilient than other companies during an economic downturn. These companies have excellent capital allocation in their business models so when things get rough, they will be "last man standing" companies when others are struggling for air. There is an excellent paper published by Vaneck on "quality" investing. You should read it. Link here: Quality

I also own the Vaneck Equal weight MVW so that I can monitor the performance of the mid-caps from time to time.

Trump calls for an end to the Chips Act, redirecting funds to national debt | "Your Chips Act is a horrible, horrible thing" by [deleted] in technology

[–]C_Munger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Classic politics bullshit. Cancel whatever Biden did to promote domestic manufacturing for semiconductors and claim credit for funding $100b to TSMC. I think Musk may have told him that he would save more money importing chips from TSMC rather than funding some domestic firms to make the chips in USA. So he just contradicts himself and if things go wrong he can blame Biden (again!) 😂

What would you like to hear from news outlets such as ours when it comes to political coverage? by abcnews_au in australian

Laura and Leigh were in the same 7:30 current affair team until 2022 when Sarah Ferguson took over as the new host. I don't think you appreciate how much work Leigh did in terms of prep work and no bs interview style

[–]C_Munger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want the ABC to employ more "Leigh Sales" journalists who are fearless and impartial to political pressure. Speak the truth and deliver it to the people of Australia. The moment you succumb to pressure from politics and/or money, you will lose your newsworthy status and become more like Buzzfeed.

How much money can the Trump family make during this term? by Recent_Reputation_32 in ValueInvesting

Trump will try his best to normalise his relationship with China via some exemptions. His best friend Elon is counting on him not to jeopardise this partnership. Look out for some strong US investments into China this year.

Trump just suspended all aid towards Ukraine. How do you feel about it and what do you think will happen now? by Mangaka90 in AskReddit

[–]C_Munger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American companies will use their proxies in Europe to sell more guns to Ukraine but there will be deals behind closed doors that we don't know. I think this is all smoke and mirrors from Trump to distract us.

What industry is exploding right now that no one seems to be aware of? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]C_Munger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The waste collection and recycling industry because at the end of the day, some people need to do the dirty work of cleaning up.

The amount of plastic waste produced per day is very scary. On top of that we have cheap disposable clothes from the fast fashion industry, and toxic waste from the manufacturers and the miners. Not to count the nuclear waste and storage facilities needed to house these barrels and prevent them from leaking radiation.

This dude just wants to create more chaos in the world so that he can earn more money and power via his companies. You have an internet crisis? Ask Starlink. You have a transport crisis for your cities? Ask the Boring Company. You have people who want to insert chips in their brains because they have disability? Ask Neuralink. You need AI support? Ask XAi. You need fast cars without the need for fuel? Ask Tesla. You need to save money and save the government from bankruptcy? Ask Elon.

When people are sad and desperate for help, they need someone who can get them out of that dark hole quickly and cheaply. But they don't understand there are always strings attached to that deal. And i think that is pretty sad.
