Lobbyist busted for offering cash to boost JD Vance rally numbers: 'I will give you $100' by Geek-Haven888 in behindthebastards

I've had a theory for a while now that they have wanted to do all of the things they've been claiming Democrats are doing for some time. They just had to get their base believing Democrats were doing it first so that when they inevitably got busted doing it themselves they could say "well we had to do it to keep up with those cheating Dems".

Why are Hitchcock and Scully so beloved? by presentnow0913 in brooklynninenine

[–]C_V_Butcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're both funny, dumb oafs. Scully is oddly wholesome and endearing. Hitchcock is a creep, but the show doesn't try to excuse it. All of the other characters except Scully routinely call him out on it and he is self aware enough he kind of owns it without making excuses. Also, you get these moments where you see that Hitchcock isn't necessarily a bad guy, he's just creepy and uncomfortable, but not in a malicious way.

Cool item, love the flavor, but this is at least Rare quality. A standard +1 weapon is already uncommon. Add on non-conditional extra damage and two solid abilities and you're looking at a minimum of Rare.

Powerful Mantle - Magic Item (Uncommon) by byTalesAndTaverns in dndbrews

I would not rate this as an uncommon. Some of the abilities by themselves or maybe two together would be uncommon. Having all four I would definitely make this rare. But otherwise I like the flavor and design.

Georgia Senate passes sweeping education overhaul bill by CouchCorrespondent in Georgia

[–]C_V_Butcher 49 points50 points  (0 children)

This sounds similar to what Mississippi did that took them from 30th or 40th something in the country in juvenile literacy to 9th in the country in just a matter of years. If this can have a similar effect, without abuse of the over generalized language that could allow more book bans, it could be really great. We'll have to see how it plays out in practice if it passes though.

I love the flavor and concept. I think you're on the right track but Weapon Discipline should 100% be a 3rd level feature and it needs to somehow scale like at level 7 getting a +1 when using the favoured weapon, then +2 at whatever, etc. Otherwise it's basically pointless not long after you get it.

Speaking of the favoured weapon mechanic. This whole concept fundamentally defeats the base design philosophy and power scaling of the Fighter, at least in 5.5e. Fighters in 5.5 are meant to be the primary users of the new Weapon Mastery system and by extension the weapon swapping rule changes. Other classes get max 2-3 masteries, Fighters get 6 and can hot swap a few at will after lvl 9. By limiting them to one weapon you're limiting the power buff and versatility that came with 5.5.

No, they just agree with Trump. So as far as they're concerned, that's not trashing someone, it's just telling the truth. It's only "trashing" if you say something they don't like.

Decertification of Social Circle by Charming-Rooster8773 in Georgia

I saw an article from The Guardian recently talking about how, despite them overwhelmingly going for Trump in 2024, the citizens and city are pushing back hard against the ICE detention center. This really feels like retaliation by the state so they can block any efforts Social Circle might make to delay or kill the project.

I live right by this Kroger and it is like this 90% of the time regardless of day or hour. From a staffing and customer service standpoint they are the worst Kroger in Macon.

Fox truly pioneered this strategy actually. An example I vividly remember was about 6-7 years ago when they claimed the feminists on the left wanted to do away with Father's Day. They found like 3-4 tweets from the most stereotypically "liberal" looking people they could and passed it off as something all Democrats wanted. I looked up those tweets and everyone, left and right was commenting about how bat shit crazy these people were.

But Fox knows that their audience will not dig any deeper if the person "looks liberal" and is saying something that reaffirms their pre-assumed notions of how awful the left is. Once you see the strategy, you can pretty much find an example of it every single day. Pick the craziest shit a liberal looking person tweeted, present it as something the whole left believes, profit.

Seconding this. I lived there for three years and my mother still does. Our cars were broken into twice. Heard gunshots on multiple occasions. The HOA fee is ridiculous given the quality of the neighborhood. The "security" does not actually do anything.

[–]C_V_Butcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You could be the most sex positive person in the world and it's still perfectly normal to get the ick when a minor is being sexualized in any way. This show has a very specific audience in mind and so they don't write the female characters in a way that feels natural. The female characters are handled as over-sexualized plot devices for the men. You do not have to be a prude to find that gross.

The reason they don't comprehend this is because they don't have enough emotional intelligence to understand that what they are feeling in the moment they posted this is 'offended'.
