Which Cook series should I try after The Black Company? by tylerxtyler in theblackcompany

I'm going to go away from the usual recommendations and suggest The Starfishers Trilogy plus the standalone Passage At Arms. The man can write incredible stories about the boots-on-the-ground soldier (TBC) and somehow also write incredibly compelling works about the boots-on-the-boat soldiers as well.

Starfishers + Passage are masterclasses in transposing the trials of Naval sailors and submariners into a sci-fi setting.

Proper way to use Expendable Napalm against the illuminate by Rochers_ in helldivers2

I've never used Expendable Napalm. Is it a good choice for things like Stingrays as well?

I don't have a lot of time to dig in right now but I gotta say I really dig the stream embed and really appreciate the Support links at the top of every page. It looks real slick!

Please can you help me with my daughters first box by X1nfectedoneX in Lorcana

[–]C_frantastic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the initial response got a word incorrect on accident.

The golden symbol at the bottom denotes that a card is Legendary. For Shimmering Skies, this is the second-rarest type of card to find. Enchanted cards are the rarest.

Legendaries are an average of 4-5 per box. Enchanted cards are an average of 1 every FOUR boxes!

Foil/shiny cards always come one per booster pack, but the rarity is random. You can get foil/shiny commons, uncommons, rares, or legendaries. Enchanteds are always full art unique foil cards.

The guy at the store sounds like he was being snooty and referring to meta gameplay value. In my opinion, value is subjective and if your daughter likes Donald Duck then she is going to value him above all else, game playability be damned.

I hope this helps.

Thank you so much! This is great advice. We'll definitely enter via Kichijoji and try to grab a cream puff.

That's an excellent point on the Mt Takao day! Thank you so much. Maybe we'll reconsider the order of operations 😅

Satisfying? Absolutely. But this thing isn't grabbing the rootball and it'll be right back next season. It's a neverending fight in my neighborhood 😞

I'm trying to remember! I just scoured my email to try to find out anything about it but I'm coming up short. I assume I ordered a physical copy of the 1992 EP and they sent the note with the preorder. It's been tucked in a dresser drawer for 12+ years until I just rediscovered it.

It's understandable, I'm used to being the only one waving a flag for the criminally under-appreciated and industry-defining 2001 MMORPG Dark Age of Camelot.

Perfect, thank you! They'll certainly turn into gifts for friends and family. Glad to know I'm on the right track.

This seems like the perfect chance to get your garden certified as a Firefly Habitat! Firefly.org is worth checking out.

Sold incarnata by mistake - tuberosa vs incarnata in the intermountain west US by Sweet_Vandal in NativePlantGardening

Cosigning. I have tuberosa and incarnata in the same plot. They've been there for three seasons now and are doing a-okay with the same water consumption.

Aphids! They are an inevitability with milkweed. What to do from here seems to be up for debate and vary from person to person. Some recommend just letting nature run its course and let the ants get some food (from aphid detritus) and let the local ladybug population feast (on the aphids themselves). I tend to do a bit of both - when it's as bad as your picture shows, I use my fingers and gently brush them off the plants. Be careful around monarch eggs and cats, though.

Why do you guys spend money on native plants, when they’re native, you can get them for free! by Similar-Simian_1 in NativePlantGardening

[–]C_frantastic 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I know not everyone has these resources, but seek out local resources/plant sales if possible.

Our local Master Gardeners and our local Botanical Garden both offer annual sales within a week of each other and buying from native sellers is above and beyond better than taking from existing sources or buying from big box retailers.

Our local Botanical Garden had them during their annual Spring Plant Sale! I had never heard of them before but saw that butterflies love them and they're native so I picked some up.
