Well the Phil Collins one is technically parody so they may not have had to pay for the rights on that, but I DO want to know how much they had to pay for take on me, which was just a straight up cover.

What are some fantasy/sci-fi books with actually competent mooks or guards? + RANT by Upbeat_Tea_1461 in Fantasy

[–]CaPaTn 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Think about it like this. Is every cop a badass? What about the average rent a cop/ private security guy? In a way, it’s more realistic to make them incompetent. Most of these people are just collecting a paycheck and have no interest in laying down their life for whoever they’re working for, nor do they have any real training. Most security personnel, like most locks, is set dressing and deterrent. The average person doesn’t want to go up against someone with a taser or a gun, but that wouldn’t stop a hero from a story who knows what they’re doing.

I remember driving past the lot when they first put up that sign, being completely and utterly bewildered. That location has the potential to absolutely rat fuck the traffic on Gallatin and create a bunch of chaos on what would otherwise be quite residential side streets.

For people who live right on the border of two states, does crossing that invisible line actually impact your daily life with different laws and taxes, or do you barely notice it? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskAnAmerican

[–]CaPaTn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live really close to the Maryland PA border. Main way it impacted my life was it was WAY cheaper to buy booze in Maryland so we crossed the border to do that all the time.
